THE ORGANIZATION IS AN ALL-VOLUNTEER, NOT-FOR-PROFIT FOUNDED IN1975. IT IS DEDICATED TO INCREASING KNOWLEDGE, AWARENESS AND PRESERVATION OF THE TOWN'S HISTORICAL HERITAGE. IT MAINTAINS THE RED BRICK SCHOOLHOUSE MUSEUM FOR COORDINATION OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, RESEARCH AND PRESERVATION ADVOCACY.

MUSEUM UPDATE: THE SOCIETY HAS RECEIVED FUNDING FROM THE MORRIS COUNTY HISTORIC PRESERVATION FUND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR PRESERVATION OF THE EXTERIOR OF THE RED BRICK SCHOOLHOUSE MUSEUM.
OFF-SITE STORAGE OF HISTORIC ARTIFACTS, NEWSPAPERS,ETC.
SPECIAL PROJECTS: CELEBRATED THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHATHAM COLONY ASSOCIATION, A JEWISH COMMUNITY WITHIN CHATHAM TOWNSHIP. THE PUBLIC WAS TREATED TO AN AFTERNOON OF HISTORICAL EXHIBITS, PRESENTATIONS AND MUSIC. AN HISTORIC MARKER WAS ALSO ERECTED.
OUTREACH: PURCHASE OF EXHIBIT MATERIALS FOR DISPLAYS IN PUBLIC AREAS SUCH AS THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING AND PUBLIC LIBRARY. PURCHASE OF EXHIBIT CABINETRY TO DISPLAY EDUCATIONAL POSTERS AT LOCAL SHOPPING CENTER.
