ABTC'S PURPOSE IS TO AWARD A VOLUNTARY, NON-GOVERNMENTAL CERTIFICATION CREDENTIAL, CCTC, CPTC, CCTN OR CTP, TO QUALIFIED TRANSPLANT COORDINATORS OR TRANSPLANT NURSES WHO HAVE SUCCESSFULLY PASSED THE CERTIFICATION EXAM, WHICH REPRESENTS A STANDARD OF COMPETENCE.

ABTC OFFERS THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATIONS: CERTIFIED CLINICAL TRANSPLANT COORDINATOR (CCTC), CERTIFIED PROCUREMENT TRANSPLANT COORDINATOR (CPTC), CERTIFIED CLINICAL TRANSPLANT NURSE (CCTN), CERTIFIED TRANSPLANT PRESERVATIONIST (CTP). USE OF CERFTIFICATION CREDENTIALS ATTESTS TO THE TRANSPLANT COMMUNITY AND THE PUBLIC THAT THE INDIVIDUAL HAS MET A STANDARD OF COMPETENCY AND POSSESSES THE NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NEEDED TO PROVIDE QUALITY CARE FOR TRANSPLANT DONORS.


TO MAINTAIN CCTC/CPTC/CCTN STATUS, INDIVIDUALS MUST ACCUMULATE 60 CONTINUING EDUCATION POINTS FOR TRANSPLANT COORDINATORS WITHIN A THREE-YEAR PERIOD. THE FOCUS OF THIS PROCESS IS TO FOSTER EDUCATION AND A STANDARD OF COMPETENCY WITHIN THE TRANSPLANT PROFESSION.


ABTC HAS DEVELOPED SELF-ASSESSMENT EXAMS THAT CAN HELP CANDIDATES PREPARE FOR THE CCTC, CPTC, CCTN EXAMS. SAE'S ARE 50 TO 75 QUESTIONS LONG AND FOLLOW THE SAME EXAMINATION SPECIFICATIONS AS THE ACTUAL CERTIFICATION EXAMINATION.


VARIOUS ORGANIZATIONS CAN APPLY TO BECOME AN APPROVED PROVIDER OF CEPTC'S. THEY MUST DEMONSTRATE TO ABTC THAT THEIR PROGRAM CONTAINS CURRENT INFORMATION IN THE CLINICAL TRANSPLANT AND PROCUREMENT/PRESERVATION PRACTICES.
