THE KANSAS RURAL CENTER (KRC) IS A NON-PROFIT 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION THAT PROMOTES THE LONG-TERM HEALTH OF THE LAND AND ITS PEOPLE THROUGH RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND ADVOCACY.

THE COMMUNITY FOOD SOLUTIONS PROJECT INCLUDING THE CIVIC HEALTH FOR CIVIC AGRICULTURE PROVIDED FARMERS, CONSUMERS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS, INFORMATION AND ANALYSIS OF THE FOOD SYSTEM ALL GEARED TOWARD INCREASING PRODUCTION AND AVAILABILITY OF LOCALLY HEALTHY FOOD ON KANSAS FARMS AND KANSAS COMMUNITIES. THE RELATED INTEGRATED VOTER ENGAGEMENT PROJECT FOCUSED ON VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND EDUCATION FOR RURAL COMMUNITIES WITH WORKSHOPS AND SPEAKERS ON VOTING PROCESS CHANGES AND HOW TO REGISTER. THE GENERAL PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, MATERIALS AND NEWS AND ANALYSIS VIA A QUARTERLY PRINT NEWSLETTER, MONTHLY ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTERS AND NOTICES, REGULAR NEWS RELEASES, AND HOSTING SEVERAL ONLINE CONFERENCES ON FARM AND FOOD SYSTEM POLICY, PRODUCTION PRACTICES AND GENERAL SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SYSTEM ISSUES. KRC BEGAN A RESEARCH PROJECT INTO ORGANIZING BEGINNING FARMER TRAINING IN KANSAS AND CONTINUED WORK TO BOOST THE ACCESS OF KANSAS SCHOOLS TO LOCALLY PRODUCED FOODS.
