PROGRAM OUTREACH: MAKAWAO HISTORY MUSEUM VOLUNTEERS ESCORTED THE 7TH GRADE CLASS OF JEFFERY FRIEDMAN FROM MONTESSORI SCHOOL IN APRIL IN A WALKING/EDUCATIONAL HISTORY TOUR OF MAKAWAO TOWN; ALSO IN MAY THE VOLUNTEERS ESCORTED KALAMA SCHOOL HAWAIIAN STUDIES CLASS FOR A WALKING/EDUCATIONAL HISTORY TOUR. A POP-UP STORE FRONT WAS OPENED IN MAKAWAO TOWN ON BALDWIN AVE. FROM AUGUST 2021 TO OCTOBER 2021, WHERE THEY HAD SET UP A MINI EXHIBIT AND SOLD MEMORABILIA. THE MAKAWAO MUSEUM MAINTAINS A ONLINE PRESENCE WHERE EXHIBITS CAN BE VIEWED AND ITEMS MAY BE PURCHASED. PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS EXHIBITS: THE STORE FRONT REMAINS TO BE CLOSED. THE MUSEUM COMPLETED THE FINAL STAGE OF PRODUCTION FOR THE KUPUNA PROJECT; WHICH WAS AIRED ON PBS ON MARCH 24, 2022, ALONG WITH THE MAUI FILM FESTIVAL VIRTUAL TOUR IN APRIL AND THE HAWAII INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL SHOWING A QUEEN KAAHUMANU THEATER. IT IS ALSO AVAILABLE ON YOU TUBE. THE MUSEUM IS PRESENTLY WORKING ON UPDATING THE WEBSITE TO ACCOMMODATE THE KUPUNA PROJECT VIDEO. IN THE COMING YEAR IT MAY BE SHOWN ON HAWAIIAN AIRLINE FLIGHTS.
