THE ORGANIZATIONS MISSION IS TO PAIR MILITARY VETERANS LIVING WITH HIDDEN INJURIES SUCH AS POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER, TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY, AND MILITARY SEXUAL TRAUMA, WITH RESCUE DOGS.

DOG TAG BUDDIES PROVIDES ANIMAL SERVICES AND PRODUCTS AT NO COST TO THE VETERAN. COVERED COSTS INCLUDE ADOPTION AND VETERINARY FEES, FOOD AND TRAINING TREATS WHILE PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM, AND SUPPLIES SUCH AS LEASHES, COLLARS, KENNELS. ENROLLEES GET AT LEAST ONE HOUR OF TRAINING CLASSES PER WEEK FOR A PERIOD OF 1 TO 2 YEARS, AND EXTENDED SUPPORT FROM TRAINERS AND STAFF. IN 2020, DOG TAG BUDDIES ADDED 20 MORE DOGS TO THOSE ALREADY IN THE PROGRAM. ADOPTION FEES AND VETERINARY CARE FOR THESE DOGS WERE $32,400. IN 2020, DOG TAG BUDDIES PROVIDED OVER 300 HOURS OF TRAINING TO 35 VETERAN TEAMS VALUED AT $306,250.
