THESE ARE TAUGHT WELL BY OUR PARTNER ORGANIZATION WOMEN'S MENTORING NETWORK (STAMFORD CT) AND WERE ACCOMPLISHED REMOTELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF OUR LARGER AUDIENCE. ALSO SIXCIA DEVINE, A FEMALE, BILINGUAL ENTREPRENEUR TAUGHT SEVERAL CLASSES , ALSO IN SPANISH, IN THE SPRING ON GOOGLE TOOLS FOR LIFE SKILLS, HOW TO GROW A SMALL ENTERPRISE, AND ON JOB SEARCHING AND RESUME WRITING. IN THE FALL, WE RAN AN IN-PERSON 5 -WEEK COURSE ON BASIC DIGITAL LITERACY FOR WOMEN (ESPECIALLY 40+) IN COLLABORATION WITH SPRING BANK AT THEIR BRONX LOCATION; TAUGHT BY A FEMALE CONSULTANT IN TECHNOLOGICAL INSTRUCTION.- IN NOVEMBER, FEARLESS COMMUNICATORS TAUGHT A WORKSHOP ON "GAME CHANGING PUBLIC SPEAKING FOR YOUR ADVOCACY & COMMUNITY BUILDING".- FINANCIAL LITERACY IS IMPORTANT FOR WOMEN - WE INVITED MYMONEYWORKSHOP TO PROVIDE A WORKSHOP ON "TOOLS FOR YOUR FINANCIAL WELLNESS".
KOTA DAY: KOTA DAY - OUR ANNUAL DAY FOR EDUCATION AND NETWORKING FOR OTHER NONPROFITS - WAS ACCOMPLISHED IN AN ABBREVIATED ONLINE FORMAT , WITH ED.D. LUCIA ALCANTARA LEADING A WORKSHOP ON HOW TO MANAGE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP CHALLENGES DURING COVID. THERE WERE 23 PARTICIPANTS.
YOUTH ENGAGEMENT: YOUTH ENGAGEMENT IS ABOUT EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE AS VALUABLE PARTNERS WHEN PAVING THE WAY FOR FUTURE PROGRESS FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS. BY ENGAGING YOUNG PEOPLE AS INTERNS AND VOLUNTEERS, WE GIVE THEM AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE INVOLVED IN DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES OF OUR ORGANIZATION, PLAN AND PARTICIPATE IN PROJECTS RELATED TO WOMEN'S RIGHTS, AND GROW AS FUTURE LEADERS. IN 2021 THE KOTA ALLIANCE HOSTED 4 PART TIME INTERNS.WELLNESS PROGRAMMING: WELLNESS IS A BASIC REQUIREMENT FOR SUCCESS OVERALL, AND WE INCORPORATED SOME PROGRAMS WITH THAT IN MIND:- A VISION BOARD WORKSHOP WITH RITU MAHINDRU, FORMER BOARD MEMBER- AN ENERGY MEDITATION SESSION ON ZOOM WITH MIIA VIITA OF ETTLECOACHING- A WORKSHOP ON ACCESS TO SOCIAL SERVICES DURING COVID FOR IMMIGRANT FAMILIES AND YOUTH, LED BY THERE IS NO LIMIT FOUNDATION- A PARENT EDUCATION WORKSHOP ON PREVENTING SEXUAL ABUSE IN CHILDREN, LED BY DIGNITY OF CHILDREN
INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES: - DURING THE COMMISSION OF THE STATUS OF WOMEN 65 MEETINGS AT THE UN, HELD ONLINE, WE PRODUCED AN ONLINE WORKSHOP UNDER THE NGOCSW UMBRELLA TITLED "GRASSROOTS INITIATIVES FOR THE ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN" , WITH 16 OF OUR PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED AND 60 ATTENDEES (REMARKABLE FOR AN EVENT WITH THOUSANDS OF ATTENDEES AND HUNDREDS OF COMPETING PARALLEL EVENTS). - AT THE SAME FORUM, WE CONTRIBUTED TO OUR PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS CEPAZ EVENT ON THE SITUATION FOR WOMEN IN VENEZUELA AND THE CENTER FOR MIGRATION, GENDER AND JUSTICE EVENT ON GENDER, DISPLACEMENT AND VIOLENCE. - IN OCTOBER, WITH THE DEVASTATING CONSEQUENCES FOR THE WOMEN IN AFGHANISTAN OF THE TALIBAN TAKEOVER, WE ORGANIZED AN ONLINE PANEL DISCUSSION AND FUNDRAISER WITH WOMEN FOR AFGHAN WOMEN FOR THE BENEFIT OF AFGHAN REFUGEES IN THE US.- THE ANDREW BLANE FUND FOR HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS SUPPORTED SISTERS SABA AND GULALAI ISMAIL WITH A STIPEND OF $2000 TOWARDS FURTHER STUDIES IN HUMAN RIGHTS. THE SISTERS ARE FOUNDERS OF AWARE GIRLS IN PAKISTAN, PERSECUTED AND FORCED TO SEEK ASYLUM IN THE US. IN 2017, KOTA HOSTED THEM IN OUR PREVIOUS OFFICE SPACE FOR THEIR WORK IN EXILE.
