THE ADVANCING COMMUNITIES FOUNDATION IS A 501(C)(3) THAT SUPPORTS AMERICAN INDIAN / ALASKA NATIVE COMMUNITIES IN FOUR AREAS: EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT - ACADEMIC PREPARATION SERVICES FROM K-PHD; ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP - ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING AND PARTNERSHIPS TO CREATE SUSTAINABILITY FOR RESERVATION FAMILIES; PUBLIC HEALTH - PROVIDING COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND SUPPORT REGARDING PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS; AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT - WORKSHOPS AND TRAINING FOR YOUNG ADULTS AND PROFESSIONALS.

OUR LARGEST PROGRAM WAS THE LEADERS IN EQUITABLE EVALUATION AND DIVERSITY PROGRAM (LEEAD) WHICH WAS COMPRISED OF MENTORSHIP AND TRAINING FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN THE FIELD OF EVALUATION. LEEAD CONSISTS OF THREE ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS: 1) A SEMESTER OF ONLINE EVALUATION COURSEWORK; 2) ONGOING MENTORSHIP FROM ESTABLISHED EXPERTS IN EVALUATION; AND 3) A REMOTE EVALUATION RESIDENCY PLACEMENT AT A RESEARCH ORGANIZATION, FOUNDATION OR PRIVATE FIRM. ADDITIONALLY, SCHOLARS PARTICIPATED IN TWO IN-PERSON GATHERINGS OF THE LEEAD NETWORK.
THE SECOND LARGEST PROGRAM IS THE HOPI CHAMBER AND LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE, WHICH PROVIDES FREE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION AND A LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE TO THE PUBLIC TO TRAIN INDIVIDUALS ON BETTER MANAGEMENT AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT.
OUR THIRD PROGRAM SERVICE WAS THE ENVIRONMENTAL WORKSHOP SERIES. THE SERIES AIMS TO STRENGTHEN MANAGEMENT SKILLS IN RELATIONS TO RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, STAFFING AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO BUILD CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE AND SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURES. THE PROGRAM TEACHERS HOW TO EVALUATE AND EMPLOY COST EFFECTIVE AND CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE SUSTAINABLE SYSTEMS THROUGH INTERACTIVE TRAINING MODULES THAT CAN BE LOCALLY MAINTAINED.
