COMMUNITY EDUCATION TO IMPROVE AND PRESEVE A FAIR AND IMPARTIAL JUDICIARY IN THE STATE. JNPA EXPANDED OUR PUBLIC EDUCATION EFFORTS IN 2017 TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL BUSINESS AND SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS, DIVERSE ORGANIZATIONS, ORGANIZATIONS WITH HIGH PERCENTAGES OF YOUTH AND COMMUNITIES IN REMOTE, RURAL ALASKA. WE PRESENTED TO 19 ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT ALASKA, INCLUDING SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS AT THE ANCHORAGE SCHOOL DISTRICT. WE HAVE PLANS TO EXPAND OUR WORK TO MORE ALASKA SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN 2018. WE PRROVIDED CIVICS EDUCATION AT THE ANCHORAGE LOUSSAC LIBRARY'S FIRST CIVICS FAIR. JNPA PRODUCED A NEW WEBSITE THAT INCLUDES VIDEOS, NEWS ARTICLES AND LETTERS (ALL SHAREABLE VIA SOCIAL MEDIA) ON ALASKA'S MERIT-BASED METHOD FOR CHOOSING AND RETAINING JUDGES. THE WEBSITE ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC ON HOW THEY CAN BE PART OF THE JUDICIAL SELECTION AND RETENTION PROCESS. ON AN ONGOING BASIS, WE SHARED EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION VIA SOCIAL MEDIA, INCLUDING VIDEOS ON THE STATE'S JUDICIAL SELECTION/RETENTION SYSTEM AND VIDEOS TO YOUTH ON PROGRAMS AVAILABLE TO LEARN HOW TO BE A LAWYER AND JUDGE.
