Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE LEGACY PROGRAM CONSISTS OF FOUR MAIN COMPONENTS: TRAINING, CURRICULULM, EVENTS, AND SUPPORT. THE PROGRAM KICKS OFF EACH ACADEMIC YEAR WITH AN IN-DEPTH, PROFESSIONAL TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR LEGACY LEAD TEACHERS.ALL LEGACY CURRICULA HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO USE BEST PRACTICES OF TEACHING PRINCIPLES WHILE PROVIDING CONTENT AND PEDAGOGY THAT IS BOTH STRUCTURED AND FLEXIBLE ENOUGH FOR EASE OF USE IN A TYPICAL CLASSROOM SETTING. WITHIN EACH SEMESTER, A DIFFERENT SOCIAL CONCERN IS ADDRESSED, AND THE FIVE-STEP PROCESS IS UTILIZED BY STUDENTS TO LEARN ABOUT THE ISSUES THROUGH AN ACADEMIC ASSEMBLY, INTERNALIZE WHAT THE ISSUES MEAN TO THEM AND TO SET INTRINSIC GOALS, LEARN ABOUT ADVOCACY AS AN AGENT FOR CHANGE AND TO DEVISE ADVOCACY PLANS TO INFORM AND ENGAGE THEIR COMMUNITIES, TO ACT AS PHILANTHROPISTS THROUGH SERVICE PROJECTS, AND TO REFLECT ON THEIR EXPERIENCES AND RESULTS.SPECIAL EVENTS LIKE THE DAY OF SERVICE, THE YOUTH SUMMIT, AND THE YOUTH FILM & FOOD FESTIVAL, ARE A CRUCIAL ASPECT OF LEGACY PROGRAMMING - CONNECTING ALL OF OUR LEGACY SCHOOLS AS ONE COMMUNITY. DIVERSE POPULATIONS FROM PUBLIC, PRIVATE, CHARTER, AND RELIGIOUS SCHOOLS ALL SERVE AND CELEBRATE ALONGSIDE EACH OTHER, AND THEY ARE ABLE TO SEE HOW THEIR COMBINED PHILANTHROPIC EFFORTS CAN AND DO MAKE A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IN THEIR WORLD.SUSTAINED SUPPORT BY THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM COORDINATOR AND OTHER LEGACY STAFF IS CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, PROVIDING CURRICULUM EXPERTISE, ONGOING TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT, SCHEDULING LOGISTICS AND DELIVERY OF ACADEMIC ASSEMBLIES BY A TEAM OF PRESENTERS, PODS DELIVERIES, EVENT PERMISSIONS AND DETAILS, AND STUDENT MENTORSHIP SESSIONS. E-NEWSLETTERS ARE REGULARLY SENT TO TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS WITH UPDATES AND GUIDANCE ON ALL ASPECTS OF THE PROGRAM.
