ASTEAM VILLAGE FOCUSES ON ENGAGING STUDENTS, FAMILIES, AND EDUCATORS IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ARTS AND MATH (STEAM) PATHWAYS TO FACILITATE CARERRE AND EDUCATION READINESS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE 21ST CENTURY ECONOMIES OF TODAY AND TOMORROW

DESPITE BEING IN THE SECOND YEAR OF THE PANDEMIC, ASTEAM VILLAGE PROVIDED SERVICES TO HELP STUDENTS ACHIEVE THE FOLLOWING MILESTONES IN 2021: 1. PROVIDED SUMMER EMPLOYMENT TO HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS. 2. PROVIDED ON-SITE STEAM SUMMER CAMP EXPERIENCE FOR 50 ELEMENTARY, JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. 3. SERVED OVER 850 STUDENTS IN STEM/STEAM PROGRAMMING. 4. LEAD SIX CYBERSECURITY TEAMS THAT COMPETED FROM JAN. 2021- MAY 2021 WITH ONE OF THE TEAMS PLACING IN THE TOP TEN NATIONALLY. 5.LEAD THREE IRACING TEAMS, WHERE TWO OF THE THREE TEAMS PLACED FIRST AND SECOND NATIONALLY IN THE INTERNATIONAL STEM LEAGUE RACING CHALLENGE. 6.PARTNERED WITH THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS URBAN YOUTH ACADEMY AND THE CITY OF KCMO PARKS AND RECREATION TO PROVIDE SUMMER PROGRAMMING TO OVER 150 STUDENTS. 7.HOSTED TWO COMMUNITY STEM DAY OUTREACH EVENTS THAT SERVED OVER 1,000 STUDENTS FROM BOTH KCMO AND KCKS. 8.PARTNERED WITH UNIVERSITY OF MO-KC AND UNIVERSITY HEALTH TO HOST TWO COVID-19 VACCINE EVENTS AND COMMUNITY STEAM EDUCATION AWARENESS FOR OVER 500 PARTICIPANTS.


STARTED A NEW PROGRAM - DIGITAL KC NOW- AN INITIATIVE THAT BRINGS BROADBAND INTERNET AND ITS RESOURCES TO NEIGHBORHOODS WHILE BUILDING A COMMUNITY OF KNOWLEDGE WORKERS. EDUCATING PEOPLE ON HOW TO USE THE INTERNET TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVES-HEALTHCARE, EDUCATION, CAREER OPPORTUNITIES, REMOTE WORK, ETC.
