THE MISSION OF THE LVH FOUNDATION IS TO PROVIDE FUNDING TO ENDOW A PROFESSORSHIP OF ALS AT DUKE UNIVERSITY - NOT ONLY TO HELP THOSE TODAY WITH ALS, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY TO FUND A CURE FOR ALS IN THE FUTURE.

THE FOUNDATION WILL FUND RESEARCH FOR AMYOTROPHIC LATERAL SCLEROSIS ("ALS") ALSO WIDELY KNOWN AS "LOU GEHRIG'S DESEASE." THE FOUNDATION WILL ALSO FUND OUTREACH FOR FAMILIES AND PATIENTS AFFECTED BY ALS. THE FOUNDATION WILL PROVIDE GRANTS TO ALS CLINICS AS PART OF THIS EFFORT. ALS CLINICS ARE TYPICALLY AFFILIATED WITH HOSPITAL SYSTEMS. INITIALLY THE FOUNDATION WILL SERVE CLINICS IN NORTH CAROLINA WITH PLANS TO EXPAND NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. THE GOAL OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO FUND A CURE FOR ALS.
