GRANTS AND AWARDS: THE FOUNDATION MAKES (1) GRANTS TO INSTITUTIONS TO SUPPORT LIVER DISEASE RESEARCH; (2) CLINICAL TRAINING AWARDS FOR ADVANCED TRAINING FOR HEPATOLOGY FELLOWS, NURSE PRACTITIONERS, AND PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS; AND (3) ABSTRACT AWARDS TO ENABLE YOUNG INVESTIGATORS TO ATTEND AND PRESENT THE RESULTS OF PROMISING RESEARCH AT PREMIERE HEPATOLOGY SCIENTIFIC MEETINGS.


PUBLIC AWARENESS: THE FOUNDATION WORKS TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF LIVER DISEASE BY MAINTAINING INFORMATION ON ITS WEBSITE AASLDFOUNDATION.ORG, AND BY EXHIBITING AND DISTRIBUTING INFORMATION AT MEETINGS AND CONVENTIONS FOCUSED ON LIVER DISEASE.


EMERGING LIVER SCHOLARS: THE EMERGING LIVER SCHOLARS (ELS) PROGRAM PROMOTES THE STUDY OF HEPATOLOGY AMONG MEDICAL, SURGICAL AND PEDIATRIC RESIDENTS WHO HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR A CAREER IN ACADEMIC MEDICINE AND WHO HAVEN'T YET DETERMINED THEIR LONG-TERM CAREER GOALS. THE ELS PROGRAM IS SUPPORTED BY AASLD AND AASLD FOUNDATION AS PART OF ITS CONTINUING MISSION TO INSPIRE AND INVEST IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF HEPATOLOGISTS.
