PROMOTE PROGRAMS AND RESEARCH TO REDUCE CHILDHOOD BLINDNESS, TREAT VISION IMPAIRMENT IN CHILDREN, AND IMPROVE OCULAR ALIGNMENT IN CHILDREN AND ADULTS. ENCOURAGE THE DEVELOPMENT OF INSTITUTIONS AND TRAINED PRACTITIONERS TO ACHIEVE OUR MISSION. ASSIST EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS TO FULFILL OUR MISSION THROUGH IMPROVED EDUCATION OF PRACTITIONERS AND THE PUBLIC. PROVIDE EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN NATIONAL AND SUPRANATIONAL SOCIETIES TO ACHIEVE OUR MISSION. FACILITATE COLLABORATION WITH INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATIONS AND NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS TO PROMOTE AND ENHANCE EYE CARE. INTERNATIONAL PEDIATRIC EYECARE TRAINING (IPET) IS A COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE INTERNATIONAL PEDIATRIC OPHTHALMOLOGY AND STRABISMUS COUNCIL (IPOSC) AND THE INTERNATIONAL ORTHOPTIC ASSOCIATION (IOA) AIMED AT DEVELOPING ROUTES FOR TRAINING MORE PEOPLE TO DELIVER PEDIATRIC EYE CARE IN UNDERSERVED AREAS OF THE WORLD. IPET IS WORKING TO CREATE AN ADVANCED TRAINING PROGRAM FOR EYE CARE PROVIDERS AND NURSES WHO, UPON COMPLETION, WILL HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS NEEDED TO EXAMINE, DIAGNOSE, AND TREAT CHILDREN'S EYE PROBLEMS.
