THE PURPOSE OF THE KINGSBRIDGE HISTORICAL SOCIETY IS TO SERVE AS TRUSTEE OF THE RICH HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL LEGACY OF THE GREATER KINGSBRIDGE REGION OF NEW YORK CITY, INCLUDING SPUYTEN DUYVIL, RIVERDALE, VAN CORTLANDT, MARBLE HILL, AND INWOOD. THE SOCIETY IS DEDICATED TO GATHERING AND DISSEMINATING INFORMATION, FOSTERING GENERAL INTEREST AND SPECIALIZED RESEARCH, COLLECTING AND PRESERVING RELICS, AND PROMOTING KINDRED AIMS. IT SEEKS TO FULFILL ITS FUNCTION BY SUCH MEANS AS MAINTAINING A WEBSITE, PROGRAMS AND EXHIBITS, PRESS AND PLATFORM, COOPERATION WITH THE SCHOOLS, AND THE PLACING OF MARKERS.

THE LARGEST PROGRAM SERVICE IS THE ANNUAL LECTURE AND WALKING TOUR SERIES. THE 2023 SERIES CONSISTED OF 10 EVENTS ON VARIOUS TOPICS RELATED TO THE HISTORY OF THE NORTHWEST BRONX. IN 2023 THE SOCIETY HAD OVER 1,000 LIVE ATTENDEES AND 80 VIRTUAL ATTENDEES AT THESE EVENTS. THE EVENTS WERE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
THE KINGSBRIDGE HISTORICAL SOCIETY MAINTAINED AND PROVIDED ACCESS TO ITS ARCHIVE OF DOCUMENTS AND RELICS IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING RESEARCH ASSISTANCE TO LOCAL HISTORIANS, ARCHAEOLOGISTS, AUTHORS, AND CURIOUS-MINDED PEOPLE WITH LOCAL HISTORY QUESTIONS.
THE KINGSBRIDGE HISTORICAL SOCIETY MAINTAINED ITS WEBSITE, WHICH SERVES AS A REPOSITORY OF LOCAL HISTORY CONTENT (MAPS, ARTICLES, VIDEOS, ETC). THE WEBSITE ALSO SERVES AS A COMMUNICATIONS PLATFORM TO ITS MEMBERS AND TO THE PUBLIC. ADDITIONALLY, THE WEBSITE IS HOME TO THE KINGSBRIDGE HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S ONLINE FORUM. IN 2023 THE WEBSITE HAD OVER 14,000 UNIQUE VISITORS.
