RCI TRAINS SMALLHOLDER FARMERS IN EAST AFRICA AND LATIN AMERICA IN SUSTAINABLE AND PROFITABLE AGRICULTURE PAIRED WITH MARKET ACCESS TO INCREASE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN AND YOUTH . RCI WORKS WITH NATIONAL AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, AS WELL AS WITH DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE SECTOR PARTNERS INCLUDING FINANCIERS, ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS AND OTHER NGOS. THESE PARTNERSHIPS ENABLE RCI TO PROVIDE WOMEN AND YOUTH AN ENTRY POINT TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND COMMODITY SPECIALTY MARKETS TO RAISE THEIR INCOME LEVELS AND IMPROVE NATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. IN THE FIRST THREE YEARS OF OPERATIONS 4,000 BENEFICIARIES WERE TRAINED IN RWANDA; THE SECOND PHASE HAS REACHED OVER 14,700 BENEFICIARIES IN ITS FIRST YEAR, AND SEEKS TO TRAIN 25,000 WOMEN BY THE END OF YEAR THREE IN RWANDA AND THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO.
