CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT-WE SEEK TO IDENTIFY OUR INNOVATORS, CALL OUT THOSE WHO STAND IN THE WAY OF PROGRESS AND SHINE A LIGHT ON THE NEXT GENERATION OF PHILLY LEADERSHIP-ALL WHILE GIVING PHILADELPHIANS THE INTERACTIVE TOOLS THEY NEED TO BECOME MORE INVOLVED, ENGAGED CITIZENS. PHILADELPHIA DOESN'T JUST NEED ANOTHER NEWS ORGANIZATION. IT NEEDS JOURNALISM THAT FOCUSES ON SOLUTIONS THAT, TOGETHER, WE CAN HELP BRING TO FRUITION. IT NEEDS A MOVEMENT OF CITIZENS WHO REFUSE TO OUTSOURCE LEADERSHIP TO A POLITICAL CLASS LONG CHARACTERIZED BY AN INSIDIOUS TRANSACTIONAL CULTURE. SEE SCHEDULE O FOR MORE DETAIL.DURING THE 2021 SHORT PERIOD, AS COVID CONTINUED TO SURGE, THE CITIZEN WORKED TO ENGAGE CITIZENS THROUGH VIRTUAL EVENTS AND PROGRAMS. IN FEBRUARY, FIVE INAUGURAL INTEGRITY ICONS WERE NAMED. INTEGRITY ICON PHILLY IS A PROGRAM TO NAME THE CITY-PAID WORKERS WHO SHOW A HIGH AMOUNT OF INTEGRITY IN THEIR WORK. EACH ICON WAS CELEBRATED AT A VIRTUAL CEREMONY AND PUBLISHED EDITORIAL HIGHLIGHTS INTRODUCING THEIR WORK TO THE PUBLIC WERE PRESENTED. A NUMBER OF OTHER HYBRID AND VIRTUAL EVENTS WERE HELD TO DISCUSS SOLUTIONS TO THE MOST PRESSING ISSUES FACED BY PHILADELPHIA.
