THE FOUNDATION FOR INTERNATIONAL UROGYNECOLOGICAL ASSISTANCE (FIUGA) PROUDLY SUPPORTS UROGYNECOLOGY/FEMALE PELVIC MEDICINE & RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY (FPMRS) FELLOWSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMS IN GHANA AND NEPAL. THE TRAINING PROGRAM IN GHANA BEGAN IN 2013 AND HAS SITES IN ACCRA AND KUMASI. THE TRAINING PROGRAM IN NEPAL OPERATES IN DHARAN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH B.P. KOIRALA INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND FORMALLY BEGAN IN 2019. FUNDING RECEIVED FOR THIS PROGRAM ALLOWED FIUGA TO PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING SUPPORT IN 2019: FIUGA FULLY FUNDED 2 PHYSIOTHERAPISTS TO TRAVEL TO GHANA TO PROVIDE HANDS-ON TRAINING, LECTURES, AND MENTORSHIP FOR LOCAL PHYSIOTHERAPISTS IN ACCRA AND KUMASI. PHYSICIANS WERE INCLUDED IN LECTURES AND MENTORING TO HELP CREATE THE LINK BETWEEN PHYSICIANS AND PHYSIOS AND DEVELOP THE CONCEPT OF A MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM. FIUGA COVERED THE REGISTRATION, TRAVEL/AIRFARE, AND LODGING EXPENSES OF 1 FELLOW AND 2 FACULTY TO ATTEND THE JOINT AUGS/IUGA SCIENTIFIC MEETING IN NASHVILLE, TN IN SEPTEMBER 2019. GHANAIAN FELLOWS RECEIVED SUPPORT TO UNDERTAKE AN EXTENDED (6MONTH) ROTATION IN SOUTH AFRICA UNDER THE DIRECTION OF STEPHEN JEFFERY AS PART OF THEIR FELLOWSHIP TRAINING.
