HCA IS A PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL OFFERING RIGOROUS, PERSONALIZED, PROJECT- BASED EDUCATION TO MAINE STUDENTS IN GRADES 5-12.

Part 3 - Line 4a
HCA USES A PROJECT-BASED, PLACE-BASED CURRICULUM TO ENGAGE ALL LEARNERS IN GRADES 5-12. WE WORK REGULARLY WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS IN AREA FARMS, FISHERIES AND FORESTS. IN 2020-21, HCA HAD 178 STUDENTS AND WILL ADD 10-20 STUDENTS EACH YEAR UNTIL REACHING A FULL SIZE OF 120 MIDDLE SCHOOL AGED STUDENTS AND 160 HIGH SCHOOL AGED STUDENTS. THE SCHOOL INSISTS THAT ALL STUDENTS CAN AND MUST MEET MEANINGFUL ACADEMIC STANDARDS, DEVELOP STRONG HABITS OF WORK, CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR COMMUNITY, AND LEAVE WITH A CLEAR AND REALISTIC PLAN FOR POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION.
