THE LIFE LEARNING ACADEMY IS COMMITTED TO CREATING A NONVIOLENT COMMUNITY FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN TRADITIONAL SCHOOL SETTINGS. LIFE LEARNING ACADEMY WELCOME STUDENTS INTO AN 'EXTENDED FAMILY' WHICH MOTIVATES EVERYONE TO GIVE AND RECEIVE SUPPORT, DEVELOP RESPONSIBILITY AND JUDGMENT, AND BUILD THE ACADEMIC, VOCATIONAL AND SOCIAL SKILLS NECESSARY TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

LIFE LEARNING ACADEMY OPERATES A PUBLIC CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL DESIGNED TO ENGAGE AND EDUCATE STUDENTS WITH PROFOUND HISTORIES OF SCHOOL FAILURE AND OTHER HIGH-RISK BEHAVIORS. THE SCHOOL SERVES ROUGHLY 50 HIGH SCHOOL AGED STUDENTS WITH PRONOUNCED HISTORIES OF SCHOOL DISENGAGEMENT AND FAILURE, JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AND OTHER HIGH RISK BEHAVIORS AND RISK FACTORS INCLUDING GANG INVOLVEMENT, SUBSTANCE ABUSE, FAMILY CRISIS, POVERTY AND ABUSE. ADDITIONALLY, LIFE LEARNING ACADEMY PROVIDES A STUDENT DORMITORY FOR SELECT STUDENTS. THESE STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO HAVE A PLACE TO CALL HOME AND PARTICIPATE IN ADDITIONAL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS INITIATED BY LIFE LEARNING ACADEMY.
