CHICAGO COLLECTIONS ENVISIONS A WORLD WHERE THE HISTORY OF CHICAGO IS MADE ACCESSIBLE TO DIVERSE COMMUNITIES TO FOSTER UNDERSTANDING, INSPIRATION, AND KNOWLEDGE CREATION THROUGH ENGAGEMENT WITH PRIMARY SOURCES.

PROGRAMS AND OUTREACH THE PORTAL, KNOWN AS EXPLORE CHICAGO COLLECTIONS (HTTPS://EXPLORE.CHICAGOCOLLECTIONS.ORG/), IS THE ORGANIZATION'S CORNERSTONE INITIATIVE THAT WAS MADE PUBLIC IN OCTOBER 2015. THE PORTAL SERVES AS A FREE, CENTRALIZED, WEB-BASED SEARCH ENGINE AND RECORD-FINDING TOOL THAT ALLOWS RESEARCHERS, TEACHERS, STUDENTS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO LOCATE OR ACCESS OVER 100,000 MAPS, PHOTOS, LETTERS, AND OTHER ARCHIVAL MATERIALS HELD AT CCC'S MEMBER INSTITUTIONS. 2023-24 SAW USERS AND PAGE VIEWS ARE UP FROM LAST YEAR BY 25% TO 285,000 INDIVIDUAL SITE VIEWS. TWELVE FREE PUBLIC PROGRAMS WERE OFFERED VIRTUALLY AND IN PERSON. PROGRAMS WERE RECORDED AND RESHARED ON CCC'S YOUTUBE CHANNEL ATTRACTING AN EVEN WIDER AUDIENCE. 2023-24 PROGRAMS INCLUDED:, A DISCUSSION WITH AUTHOR ERIK REBAIN ARRESTED ADOLESCENCE: THE SECRET LIFE OF NATHAN LEOPOLD, CHICAGO SKYSCRAPERS, 1934-1986: HOW TECHNOLOGY, POLITICS, FINANCE, AND RACE RESHAPED THE CITY, DEBORAH CALDWELL-STONE ON DEFENDING THE FREEDOM TO READ, CCC WELCOMES SECRETARY OF STATE ALEXI GIANNOULIAS, A DISCUSSION WITH RYAN CHESTER AUTHOR OF CHICAGO REFLECTED : A SKYLINE DRAWING FROM THE CHICAGO RIVER, A DISCUSSION WITH THE 2023 CCC MAKING HISTORY COME ALIVE THROUGH WORDS POETRY COMPETITION WINNERS AND CHICAGO'S POET LAUREATE, AVERY R. YOUNG., "CHICAGO'S MODERN MAYORS: FROM HAROLD WASHINGTON TO LORI LIGHTFOOT.", CONVERSATIONS WITH CHICAGO COLLECTIONS - THE PAUL AND JEAN HARRIS HOME FOUNDATION, A 21ST-CENTURY RECONSIDERATION OF LEOPOLD AND LOEB, BITS AND BOBS: AN EXTRAORDINARY COLLECTION OF ARTISTS' BOOKS AT THE NEWBERRY, CONVERSATIONS WITH CHICAGO COLLECTIONS- OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK, AND CHICAGO COLLECTIONS CONSORTIUM ANNUAL MEETING WITH SHERMANN "DILLA" THOMAS. PARTNERSHIPS CCC WAS PROUD TO CONTINUE ITS PARTNERSHIPS WITH ART DESIGN CHICAGO, CAXTON CLUB, CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS, CHICAGO ARCHITECTURE BIENNIAL, MY BLOCK MY HOOD MY CITY, AND THE BLACK METROPOLIS RESEARCH CONSORTIUM. MEMBERSHIP AT THIS TIME, CHICAGO COLLECTIONS HAS 64 UNIQUE MEMBERS ALL POSSESSING DIVERSE ARCHIVAL COLLECTIONS. THE ADDITION OF 1 NEW CORPORATE PARTNER, OZINGA CONCRETE COMPANY AND ONE NEW PARTICIPATING MEMBER, THE EVANSTON HISTORY CENTER, TO CCC'S COMMUNITY IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE VARIETY OF ORGANIZATIONS BOUND TOGETHER FOR THE PROMOTION OF AND SHARING OF CHICAGO'S RICH AND DIVERSE HISTORY. ORGANIZATIONAL AWARENESS CCC WAS REPRESENTED AT A VAST ASSORTMENT OF PROMOTIONAL EVENTS AND CONFERENCES. CCC SHARED ITS CONSORTIAL MODAL AT 6 CONFERENCES NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. CCC'S EFFORTS IN REACHING NEW AUDIENCES THROUGH ITS SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS CONTINUED TO RISE. DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS IN ADDITION TO GENEROUS INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS, FUNDING FROM THE ILLINOIS HUMANITIES, ILLINOIS ARTS COUNCIL AGENCY, GAYLORD AND DOROTHY DONNELLEY FOUNDATION, RICHARD H. DRIEHAUS FOUNDATION, CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS, TERRA FOUNDATION FOR AMERICAN ART, AND WINTRUST BANK. HAS ALLOWED CHICAGO COLLECTIONS TO CONTINUE ITS WORK IN PROVIDING FREE AND OPEN ACCESS TO MEMBER ARCHIVAL COLLECTIONS WHILE PROMOTING THESE MATERIALS THROUGH FREE VIRTUAL PUBLIC PROGRAMS AND EVENTS.
