DANCE FILM SF DFSF BRINGS DANCE TO WIDER AUDIENCES THROUGH THE PRESENTATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF DANCE-BASED FILMS. WE CELEBRATE THE BEST DANCE FILMS FROM AROUND THE WORLD, ENCOURAGE AND ASSIST CHOREOGRAPHERS AND FILMMAKERS CON'T ON SCHEDULE O

SAN FRANCISCO DANCE FILM FESTIVAL: SFDFF WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2010 BY DANCER/FILMMAKER GRETA SCHOENBERG. BEGINNING WITH A HANDFUL OF DANCE FILMS PRESENTED IN A SMALL GALLERY, THIS ANNUAL FESTIVAL SOON EXPANDED TO THE 75-SEAT 9TH STREET INDEPENDENT FILM CENTER SHOWING TWO NIGHTS OF FILMS. IN 2013, SCHOENBERG JOINED FORCES WITH EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JUDY FLANNERY WHO INVITED THE EUROPEAN DANCE SCREEN TO PARTNER WITH SFDFF FOR THEIR FIRST U.S. DANCE FILM FESTIVAL. THE 2013 FESTIVAL RECEIVED OVER 300 DANCE FILMSUBMISSIONS AND GREW INTO A FOUR-DAY FESTIVAL WITH INDUSTRY PANELS, WORKSHOPS AND DISCUSSIONS. CELEBRATING ITS TENTH ANNIVERSARY IN 2019, DANCE FILM SF PRESENTED ITS ANNUAL SF DANCE FILM FESTIVAL WITH TEN DAYS OF PROGRAMMING, AT MULTIPLE VENUES IN SAN FRANCISCO. CON'T ON SCHEDULE O


EDUCATION & OUTREACH: DANCE FILM SF CREATES EDUCATIONAL AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS TO REACH DIVERSE AND WIDER AUDIENCES. YEAR-ROUND ACTIVITIES INCLUDING SPECIAL SCREENINGS, PANELS, AND FILMMAKING WORKSHOPS. TOURING AND OUTREACH PROGRAMSSEND HIGHLIGHT REELS TO INTERNATIONAL SCREENS AND DANCE MEDIA INTO LOCAL SCHOOLS. INDUSTRY EVENTS ALLOW DANCE FILM SF TO PARTNER AND COLLABORATE WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS AND VENUES TO CREATE AND PRESENT ART EXHIBITS, LIVE PERFORMANCES AND FILMS.


CO-LABORATORY: DANCE FILM SF ALSO PRODUCES ORIGINAL DANCE FILMS THROUGH ITS CO-LABORATORY PROGRAM, MATCHING TOP CHOREOGRAPHERS WITH PROFESSIONAL FILMMAKERS AND CREATING THE TIME, SPACE, AND BUDGETFOR THEM TO COLLABORATE. THE INTENTION IS TO BRING PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE OF ALABORATORY, ONE THAT CHALLENGES THEM TO THINK COLLABORATIVELY AND EXPLORE POSSIBILITIES FOR EXPRESSION OUTSIDE THEIR FIELDS, HOPEFULLY INSPIRING FUTURE CREATIVE RELATIONSHIPS AMONG LOCAL ARTISTS. THE CO-LAB FILMS PREMIERE AT THE ANNUAL SF DANCE FILM FESTIVAL AND THEN SCREEN AT OTHER FESTIVALS INTHE U.S. AND ABROAD, PUTTING A SPOTLIGHT ON SAN FRANCISCO'S DANCE AND FILM COMMUNITIES.
