FUNDS WERE SPENT TO INVESTIGATE THE STATUS OF SNAKE RIVER FALL CHINOOK (SRFC), A SPECIES HARVESTED IN SOUTHEAST ALASKA FISHERIES. A LEGAL FIRM ASSISTED IN DETERMING WHETHER THE STOCK IS NOW HEALTHY ENOUGH TO BE REMOVED FROM "THREATENED" STATUS UNDER THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR PARTICPATED IN THE FISHERIES COMMITTEE OF THE SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE TO INFORM LOCAL BUSINESS LEADERS ABOUT ISSUES OF GENERAL SALMON ABUNDANCE AND THE RECOVERED STATUS OF THE SRFC IN THE SOUTHEAST ALASKAN FISHERIES. UPDATES WERE PROVIDED TO THE SEAFOOD PRODUCERS COOPERATIVE AND THE DOUGLAS ISLAND PINK & CHUM BOARDS OF DIRECTORS. COMMENTS ON THE SRFC RECOVERY PLAN WERE FILED WITH NATIONAL MARINE FISHERIES SERVICE. A MEETING WAS HELD WITH THE STATE OF ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF FISH & GAME.
