TEACH OF BANGLADESH IS AN EXEMPT ORGANIZATION TO SUPPORT ITS COUNTER PART TEACH OF BANGLADESH IN BANGLADESH TO LAUNCH A MOVEMEWNT OF CAPABLE, COMMITTED AND COMPASSIONATE LEADERS IN BANGLADESH WHO SHARE AN UNDERSTANDING OF INEQUITY AND ARE WORKING TIRELESSLY INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE NATION'S CLASSROOMS TO END ITS IMPACT ON CHILDREN.

TEACH FOR BANGLADESHTHE MAIN ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR THE YEAR 2021 (OCTOBER 2020 - SEPTEMBER 2021) WERE AS FOLLOWS:ADAPTING TO THE COVID CRISIS IN BANGLADESHTHE COVID-19 PANDEMIC HAS SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTED TFBS PROGRAMS AND OPERATIONS. WHEN SCHOOLS INITIALLY CLOSED, MANY OF OUR STUDENTS HAD LIMITED OR NO ACCESS TO TECHNOLOGY, RESULTING IN INCREASED THREATS OF DROPPING OUT AND BEING FORCED INTO CHILD LABOR OR CHILD MARRIAGE. HOWEVER, OUR RESILIENT TEACHING FELLOWS PIVOTED TO DISTANCE LEARNING AND CONTINUED PROVIDING LEARNING AND SOCIOEMOTIONAL SUPPORT TO 3,754 STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THIS PERIOD. AS SCHOOLS REMAINED CLOSED FROM MARCH 2020 TO SEPTEMBER 2021, TFB NEEDED TO ADOPT A BLENDED LEARNING APPROACH WHERE BOTH ONLINE AND OFFLINE LEARNING COULD COEXIST. TO KEEP THE STUDENTS ENGAGED WITH THE LEARNING PROCESS, WE HAD TO ENSURE THAT PARENTS STAYED CONNECTED ALWAYS AS THEY PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN BECOMING THE LEARNING PEERS OF THE STUDENTS. OUR COACHES SUPPORTED THE FELLOWS CONTINUOUSLY SO THAT THEY COULD TAKE CARE OF THEIR STUDENTS BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND MENTALLY AMIDST THIS CHALLENGING SYNOPSIS. AT THE END OF THIS FISCAL YEAR, WE ORGANIZED AN OBHIBHABOK SHOBHA WITH THE PARENTS OF OUR STUDENTS TO KEEP THEM CONNECTED TO THE LEARNING PROCESS. AFTER THE EVENT, OUR PROGRAM TEAM SURVEYED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE SUPPORT OF OUR FELLOWS. 80% OF PARENTS SHARED THAT OUR FELLOWS CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN. WE HAVE ALSO LAUNCHED A COUNTING SERIES PLAYLIST ON OUR OFFICIAL YOUTUBE CHANNEL IN COLLABORATION WITH MIGHTY PUNCH STUDIOS AS A DIGITAL LEARNING INITIATIVE. ITS VERY IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE TEACHERS ORIENTED TO THE DIGITAL LEARNING TOOLS ALONG WITH THE STUDENTS AND PARENTS. AS AN INITIATIVE TO AVAIL THAT, AS OF NOW, OUR FELLOWS HAVE TAKEN DIFFERENT SESSIONS AND TRAINED 99 TEACHERS AND HEADTEACHERS ACROSS DHAKA AND CHATTOGRAM TO MAKE THEM MORE AWARE OF THE IMPORTANCE OF DIFFERENT ONLINE TOOLS AND THE PROCESS OF EFFECTIVELY USING THOSE TO CONNECT WITH THE STUDENTS. FURTHERMORE, TFB HAS ALWAYS WANTED TO WORK ALONGSIDE GOVERNMENT STAKEHOLDERS TO MAKE THE MISSION MORE ROBUST. OUR SCHOOL ORIENTATION PROGRAM HAPPENED ONLINE THIS YEAR IN MARCH IN BOTH DHAKA AND CHATTOGRAM. A TOTAL OF 19 HEADTEACHERS, 2 ASSISTANT TEACHERS, 3 THANA EDUCATION OFFICERS (TEO), AND 3 ASSISTANT THANA EDUCATION OFFICERS (ATEO) JOINED THE PROGRAMS THAT STRENGTHENED THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN GOVERNMENT AND TFB, WHICH HAS BEEN WORKING AS A STRONG APPROACH TO WORK TOGETHER FOR ENSURING THE QUALITY EDUCATION FOR ALL THE CHILDREN IN THE COUNTRY. THIS YEAR TEACH FOR BANGLADESH JOINED A CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT THE SAFE REOPENING OF SCHOOLS, CALLED SAFE BACK TO SCHOOL (SB2S). SUPPORTED BY LEADING NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS, THE SB2S CAMPAIGN AIMS TO SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT IN PREPARING CHILDREN, FAMILIES, PARENTS, AND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO RESTART EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES SO STUDENTS CAN RETURN TO THE SAFEST SCHOOL SETUP.STRENGTHENING THE ALUMNI MOVEMENTALUMNI ARE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF TFBS MISSION. ALUMNIS WORK IN ENSURING QUALITY EDUCATION AND REMOVING EDUCATIONAL INEQUITY FULFILS THE GREATER VISION OF TEACH FOR BANGLADESH. TFBS ALUMNI IMPACT TEAM HAD TAKEN THE INITIATIVE EARLIER THIS YEAR TO FORM AN INDEPENDENT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION TO STRENGTHEN THE ALUMNI MOVEMENT. AN ELECTION COMMITTEE WAS FORMED WITH THE ALUMNI OF TFB, AND THE COMMITTEE THEN FINALIZED THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, WITH SAKEEF MAHBOOB (2015 ALUM) BEING THE PRESIDENT AND SANJIDA HANNAN (2019 ALUM) BEING THE GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE COMMITTEE. THE ALUMNI TEAM STARTED WORKING IN AN ALUMNI DIRECTORY IN JULY 2021. THIS DIRECTORY WILL HELP NAVIGATE ALL THE ALUMNI AND CONNECT THEM WITH FELLOWS TO GUIDE THEM THROUGH THEIR CAREERS AND MOTIVATE THEM TO WORK FOR GREATER EQUITY. COMPLETING THE FELLOWSHIP, OUR ALUMNI HAVE BEEN WORKING IN DIFFERENT SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT SECTORS. ON JULY 14, 2021, MUNIA ISLAM MOZUMDER (2015 ALUM) MODERATED A WEBINAR NAMED THE SOLUTIONS TO LARGE, COMPLEX AND PROTRACTED CRISIS, LESSONS FROM THE ROHINGYA REFUGEE RESPONSE. THIS WEBINAR AIMED TO DISCOVER AND LEARN FROM THE PROJECTS, INITIATIVES, AND DECISIONS THAT HAVE SHAPED BANGLADESHS INTERNATIONAL POSITION AND HUMANITARIAN CRISIS RESPONSE SYSTEM OVER THE PAST 50 YEARS. ICCO BANGLADESH AND CARE BANGLADESH, COLLABORATING WITH INNOVISION CONSULTING PRIVATE LIMITED, HOSTED THE PANEL DISCUSSION. THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER FOR THE EVENT WAS SHAKEB NABI, THE COUNTRY REPRESENTATIVE OF ICCO BANGLADESH. ON JULY 31, 4 ALUMS OF TFB PARTICIPATED IN A WEBINAR ORGANIZED BY TEACH FOR ALL TO DISCUSS THE EXPERIENCE OF WORKING IN COXS BAZAR AS A PART OF THE RESPONSE TO THE ROHINGYA REFUGEE CRISIS. MUNIA (2015 ALUM), MASUM (2017 ALUM), TORA (2017 ALUM), AND TANVIR (2018 ALUM) SHARED THEIR EXPERIENCE OF WORKING IN ROHINGYA RESPONSES. SADIA JAFRINS (2016 ALUM) INITIATIVE GROW YOUR READER, WHICH IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT WORKS TO ENSURE QUALITY EDUCATION AMONG CHILDREN HAVING ITS OWN CREATED CURRICULUM, TEACHERS TRAINING FACILITIES, AND LIBRARY STATIONS, HAS BEEN AWARDED AS 2ND RUNNER UP IN BYLC VOLUNTEER AWARDS 2021: PANDEMIC HEROES IN THE ORGANIZATION CATEGORY. IN THIS AWARD CEREMONY PAULA ROOS SCHINDELER, THE DEPUTY HEAD OF MISSION, EMBASSY OF THE KINGDOM OF THE NETHERLANDS IN BANGLADESH, WAS THE SPECIAL GUEST AND HONBLE MAYOR OF DHAKA NORTH CITY CORPORATION, MD. ATIQUL ISLAM WAS THE CHIEF GUEST. FELLOWSHIP RECRUITMENTS AND SELECTION THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS FOR THIS FISCAL YEAR WAS SUCCESSFUL, AND WE COMPLETED THE RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION FOR OUR 9TH COHORT OF FELLOWS. TFBS RECRUITMENT, SELECTION, AND MATRICULATION TEAM RECEIVED 2,420 FELLOWSHIP APPLICATIONS THROUGHOUT THE RECRUITMENT YEAR, OUT OF WHICH 106 (4.5%) CANDIDATES PASSED THE FOUR-STAGE RIGOROUS SELECTION PROCESS AND RECEIVED OFFERS. TFB IS COMMITTED TO SELECTING HIGH-POTENTIAL FELLOWS TO PROVIDE THE BEST QUALITY EDUCATION TO OUR STUDENTS IN THE COMMUNITIES THAT WE SERVE. APPLICANTS UNDERGO A RIGOROUS AND COMPETITIVE SELECTION PROCESS, INCLUDING FIRST REVIEW, CRITICAL THINKING TEST, PHONE SCREENING, AND A DAY-LONG ASSESSMENT WHERE CANDIDATES PARTICIPATE IN GROUP DISCUSSIONS, SAMPLE TEACHING, ROLE PLAY, AND A 1:1 INTERVIEW WITH A TRAINED SELECTOR.ADDITIONALLY, DURING THIS YEAR, TFBS RECRUITMENT, SELECTION AND MATRICULATION PROCESS WERE DONE IN AN ENTIRELY VIRTUAL SETTING, DUE TO SCHOOL CLOSURES AND THE IMPACT OF COVID-19.BESIDES, THE MATRICULATION PROCESS IS ALSO TAKING PLACE SIMULTANEOUSLY FOR THE ACCEPTED FELLOWS TO KEEP THEM ENGAGED AND MOTIVATED TO JOIN THE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM. APART FROM WELCOMING EVENTS FOR FELLOWS, WE HAVE LAUNCHED THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM FOR ALL THE ACCEPTED FELLOWS. IN THIS MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, OUR CURRENT FELLOWS SPREAD THEIR EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE ALONG WITH THE IMPACT IN THEIR CLASSROOMS BEING THE MENTORS TO THE ACCEPTED FELLOWS. THIS ALLOWS US TO KEEP THE ACCEPTED FELLOWS CONNECTED TO OUR VISION AND MISSION AND LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THEIR IN-GROUND EXPERIENCES OF THE FELLOWS. APART FROM THAT, SEVERAL LIVE WEBINARS ARE BEING HOSTED WITH DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI FOR OUR ACCEPTED FELLOWS SO THAT THEY CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT THE GREATER IMPACT OUR ALUMNI ARE MAKING. OUR 105 FULL-TIME TEACHING FELLOWS ARE LEVERAGING THREE KEY MEDIUMS TO KEEP STUDENTS IN VULNERABLE, HOSTING CLASSES UTILIZING INTERNET PLATFORMS SUCH AS FACEBOOK, WHATSAPP AND IMO. WHERE STUDENTS ENCOUNTERED CONNECTIVITY ISSUES, GROUPS CARRIED OUT LESSONS OVER THE PHONE AND DISTRIBUTED WORKBOOKS AT COMMON DISTRIBUTION CENTRES FOR LEARNING AT HOME. UNDER THE EMPOWERING STUDENTS FOR ONLINE LEARNING (ESOL) PROJECT, 508 PARENTS WERE TRAINED IN DIGITAL LITERACY SKILLS, LEADING TO 98% OF PARENTS BELIEVING THAT THE INTERNET CAN BE A USEFUL TOOL FOR LEARNING FOR THEIR CHILDREN. FUNDRAISING ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND GAP TO GOALWE HAD VERY SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISING FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2020 - 2021. WE HAVE RUN A SUCCESSFUL CROWDFUNDING CAMPAIGN THAT SURPLUS OUR INITIAL GOAL. WE HAVE RECEIVED A 3-YEAR RENEWAL FROM AN ANONYMOUS FOUNDATION. WE HAVE ALSO BEEN AWARDED A 1-YEAR DONATION FROM THE INTERNET SOCIETY FOUNDATION. OVER THIS FISCAL YEAR, WE SECURED TWO BIG PARTNERSHIPS WITH THE WORLD BANK AND US EMBASSY. WE ARE ENTERING THE NEW FISCAL YEAR 2021-2022 WITH 56% RAISED IN CASH AND COMMITMENTS. SO THE CURRENT GAP TO THE GOAL IS 44% FOR THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR. AS WE PLAN FOR OUR NEXT YEAR AND ARE TRYING TO DIVERSIFY AND EXPAND OUR LOCAL CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP PORTFOLIO, WE ARE TRYING TO DEVELOP NEW AND INNOVATIVE WAYS TO ATTRACT PROSPECTIVE PARTNERS THROUGH EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT, FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES AND STRATEGIC INITIATIVES.
