OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE FREE LITERACY INSTRUCTION TO ADULTS WHO WANT TO SECURE A BETTER FUTURE FOR THEMSELVES, THEIR CHILDREN AND THEIR COMMUNITY BY LEARNING TO READ, WRITE AND SPEAK ENGLISH.

LITERACY AND LANGUAGE TUTORING: ONE-ON-ONE AND FOUNDATIONAL SKILLS SMALL GROUP CLASSES. PROVIDED FREE SERVICES TO 148 INDIVIDUALS. TOTAL HOURS OF TUTOR-STUDENT-ENGAGEMENT: 6,800. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS. IMPROVED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY: 82%; ATTAINED EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS: 82%; IMPROVED READING & WRITING SKILLS: 73%; IMPROVED ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILLS: 62%.


NEW WORDS - LITERARY ARTS PROJECT. PUBLICATION OF NEWSPAPER OF STUDENTS WRITING (PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL). PUBLIC READING OF STUDENT WRITINGS. PROJECT GOALS ARE (1) TO TEACH ENGLISH WRITING SKILLS; (2) TO GIVE LOW LITERATE ADULTS AND IMMIGRANTS NEW WAYS TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES; (3) TO SHOWCASE WRITING BY AN OVERLOOKED POPULATION; (4) TO MAKE OUR COMMUNITY MORE INCLUSIVE.


SUPPORTING ADULT LITERACY PROGRAMS. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NEW MEXICO'S DEPARTMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION, ETHOS LITERACY PROVIDED GRANTS TO TWO COMMUNITY-BASED LITERACY PROGRAMS: READ WRITE ADULT LITERACY IN MORIARTY, NM, AND ARTESIA LITERACY COUNCIL IN ARTESIA, NM.
