THERE HAS BEEN MORE EDUCATION PROVIDED TO YOUNG PEOPLE ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS WITH A NAMI ON CAMPUS CHAPTER AT ONE OF THE HIGH SCHOOLS IN MERCED COUNTY. OUTREACH IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN AND LATINO COMMUNITIES HAS INCREASED WITH MORE RESIDENTS FROM THESE COMMUNITIES ATTENDING PRESENTATIONS. A FACEBOOK PAGE IN SPANISH WAS CREATED AND THE NAMI WEBSITE CONTAINS MORE RESOURCES FOR DIVERSE GROUPS IN THE COUNTY. SUPPORT GROUPS ARE PROVIDED FOR INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS. THERE HAS BEEN AN INCREASE IN ADVOCACY AT THE LOCAL AND STATE LEVEL TO FUND MORE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES IN THE COMMUNITY.
