Part 3
THE EDEN PRAIRIE CRIME PREVENTION FUND HAS BEEN SERVICING EDEN PRAIRIE FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS PROVIDING FUNDS TO THE EDEN PRAIRIE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR CRIME PREVENTION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS. ONE OF EPPD'S TOP PRIORITIES IS THE PREVENTION AND ENFORCEMENT OF TRAFFICKING. MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY HAVE BEEN KIND ENOUGH TO DONATE FUNDING AND COMFORT SUPPLIES OF BASIC NECESSITIES SUCH AS FOOD, CLOTHING, GAS CARDS, PERSONAL HYGIENE PRODUCTS, AND HAND-KNIT HATS TO VICTIMS OF SEX TRAFFICKING. EPCPF ALSO SUPPORTS THE RECOVERY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (RAP). RAP IS IN THE DEVELOPMENT STAGES WITH GOALS OF PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIPS AND MENTORSHIP TO EDEN PRAIRIE VICTIMS OF ADDICTION. PARTICIPANTS ARE PAIRED WITH A POLICE MENTOR TO PROVIDE GOAL ORIENTED ENCOURAGEMENT AND THE RAP SCHOLARSHIPS WILL HELP WITH TREATMENT-RELATED EXPENSES. THE OUTREACH PROGRAMS SUPPORTED INCLUDE SAFETY CAMP, NIGHT TO UNITE, HALLOWEEN AT THE MALL, COUNTER ACT PROGRAM, POLICE EXPLORERS, SENIOR SAFETY PROGRAMS, CITIZENS ACADEMY, K-9 UNIT, REWARD FUNDING, DRUG DISPOSAL BAGS, SHOP WITH A COP, SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GRADUATES, AND THE CHAPLAIN FATHER TIM POWER AWARD. AT SAFETY CAMP, KIDS LEARN ABOUT SAFETY (PERSONAL, INTERNET, BIKE, ANIMAL, FIRE) FROM POLICE, FIRE AND RECREATION DEPARTMENTS.
