SEE SCHEDULE O.URBAN ROOTS IS A SAINT PAUL ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO CULTIVATE AND EMPOWER YOUTH THROUGH NATURE, HEALTHY FOOD, AND COMMUNITY.

MARKET GARDEN PROGRAM:THE MARKET GARDEN PROGRAM ENGAGED 21 YOUTH IN PAID JOB TRAINING INTERNSHIPS AND GREW OVER 13,000 LBS OF PRODUCE ON 1.5 ACRES OF LAND. YOUTH INTERNS AND STAFF ALSO OPERATED A FARMERS MARKET BOOTH AT MILL CITY FARMERS MARKET AND OPERATED THE MOBILE FARMERS MARKET ON THE EAST SIDE OF ST. PAUL. ADDITIONALLY, THEY ENGAGED IN COMMUNITY FOOD DISTRIBUTION, FEEDING OVER 10,000 PEOPLE ON THE EAST SIDE OF ST. PAUL. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE OCOOK FRESH PROGRAM:THE COOK FRESH PROGRAM ENGAGED 19 YOUTH IN PAID JOB TRAINING INTERNSHIPS AND SERVED OVER 800 FRESH, NUTRITIOUS MEALS TO COMMUNITY. YOUTH INTERNS ALSO WORKED TO DEVELOP A PROJECT TITLED, FOOD STORIES THAT HIGHLIGHTS DIFFERENT RECIPES AND CULTURAL TRADITIONS AROUND FOOD. YOUTH AND STAFF CREATED RECIPE CARDS INSPIRED BY THE PROJECT AND ARE CURRENTLY ALSO DEVELOPING A COOKBOOK. CONSERVATION:THE CONSERVATION PROGRAM HIRED 30 YOUTH FOR PAID JOB TRAINING INTERNSHIPS AND RESTORED 278 ACRES OF HABITAT ON THE EAST SIDE OF ST. PAUL IN TEN DIFFERENT PARKS AND GREEN SPACES. YOUTH INTERNS AND STAFF PLANTED 6943 PLANTS, WHICH INCLUDED TREES, SHRUBS, FORBS AND GRASSES. THE PROGRAM ALSO ENGAGED 1684 COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN PUBLIC EDUCATION RELATED TO NATURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION.
