REPRESENT POLICE & PEACE OFFICERS BY IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF BENEFITS, AND TRAINING.

DURING 2021 WE HELD OUR ANNUAL CONVENTION IN JUNE AT ARROWWOOD RESORT FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2019. NEW OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS WERE ELECTED. OUR FEBRUARY LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE WAS DONE VIRTUALLY DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. WE MONITORED LEGISLATION AT THE STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL THAT AFFECTS POLICE OFFICERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE INFORMED OUR MEMBERS ON IMPORTANT RELEVANT ISSUES AND ENCOURAGED THEM TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES. WE PUBLISHED FOUR ISSUES OF THE MINNESOTA POLICE JOURNAL THAT INFORMED OUR MEMBERS ON CURRENT PROFESSIONAL TOPICS AND ISSUES. WE DISTRIBUTED OUR ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE SUMMARY IN THE MN POLICE JOURNAL.WE CONTINUED TO SPONSOR QUARTERLY PRESIDENT'S MEETINGS (SOMETIMES BY ZOOM) TO COMMUNICATE MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH MEMBERS UNIONS. WE COORDINATED PUBLIC RELATIONS AND LEGISLATVIE LOBBYING EFFORTS IN RESPONSE TO THE CURRENT CLIMATE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT IN MINNESOTA. WE SPONSORED A SECOND GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN FOR ARIK MATSON, THE WASECA MEMBER OFFICER SHOT IN THE LINE OF DUTY, TO ASSIST HIM AND HIS FAMILY IN HIS MEDICAL RECOVERY. WE PROVIDED A DEATH BENEFIT PAYMENT TO THE FAMILY OF A CONSERVATION OFFICER KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY IN 2021.
