THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF THE ANNUAL ALLEGAN COUNTY FAIR IS TO PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR VARIOUS YOUTH GROUPS TO SHOW LIVESTOCK THEY HAVE RAISED OR PROJECTS THEY HAVE COMPLETED DURING THE YEAR. PARTICIPANTS LEARN TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND WORK ALONE OR IN GROUPS TO ACCOMPLISH THEIR GOALS. RAISING AN ANIMAL AS A 4-H PROJECT REQUIRES YOUNG PEOPLE TO ACCEPT TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAY-TO-DAY FEEDING, WATERING, AND WELL BEING OF THE ANIMAL THEY WILL SHOW AT THE FAIR.
