IN 2022, FRIENDS OF THE GREENHOUSE INC. CONTINUED ITS EFFORTS TO SUPPORT THE MAINTENANCE, DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION OF THE SCHENECTADY CENTRAL PARK GREENHOUSE COMPLEX AND TO PROVIDE THE PUBLIC WITH THE HIGHEST QUALITY PLANT CARE COMPLEX FOR THE BENEFIT OF RESIDENTS OF THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SCHENECTADY AND OTHERS WHO USE THIS FACILITY. THE ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENTS WERE NOT ABLE TO TAKE PLACE DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, HOWEVER A YEAR END APPEAL THROUGH EMAIL AND DIRECT MAIL OCCURRED WHICH LED TO DONATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC.IN COOPERATION WITH THE CORNELL COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SCHENECTADY COUNTY (CCESC), A CHILDREN'S LEARNING GARDEN WAS DESIGNED AND INSTALLED INCLUDING A GAZEBO PURCHASED IN 2022. IN ADDITION, AN OUTDOOR COMPOSTING TOILET WAS INSTALLED AND WORK IS CONTINUING ON THE TEACHING GREENHOUSE PROJECT WHICH SHOULD BE COMPLETED IN 2023. A NEW BENCH WAS INSTALLED AND DEDICATED IN 2022 AS WELL.
