Part 3
FRESH GROUND PEPPER'S 2023 SEASON SAW THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF ANOTHER ITERATION OF EACH OF OUR TWO MOST POPULAR AND LONG-STANDING THEATER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. THE PLAYGROUND PLAYGROUP ARTISTS WHO WERE SELECTED AT THE END OF 2022 GATHERED MONTHLY THROUGH THE SPRING TO GIVE/RECEIVE FEEDBACK ON DEVELOPING SCRIPTS. THE PROCESS CULMINATED IN A LIVE WEEK-LONG SERIES OF EVENINGS OF PERFORMANCE THAT WAS WELL-ATTENDED BY AUDIENCES SUPPORTING THE WORK OF 6 EMERGING PLAYWRIGHTS AND THEIR CASTS AND CREWS. THEN IN JULY/AUGUST 2023 WE HOSTED 3-WEEKS OF OUR ANNUAL FGP BRB RETREAT, WELCOMING ARTISTS TO CREATE, LIVE, WORK, AND COOK TOGETHER IN A WOODSY NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. THIS INCLUDED AN ECO-WEEK WHEREIN WE EXPANDED OUR NET TO WELCOME ART/PERFORMANCE PROJECTS WITH ECOLOGICAL AND SUSTAINABILITY THEMES. THIS PROGRAM HOUSES 27 ARTISTS ACROSS THE 3 WEEKS, PLUS HIRES GUEST FACILITATORS WHO PROVIDE ARTISTS WITH FRESH PERSPECTIVES AND SKILLS TO DEVELOP THEIR PROCESSES. IN ADDITION TO THESE ANNUAL PROGRAMS, WE HELD A MID-YEAR STAFF RETREAT DAY IN WHICH THE FGP CO-CREATIVE DIRECTORS GATHERED FOR A DAY OF REFLECTION, TEAMBUILDING, AND ORGANIZATIONAL PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE.
