THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE UNDERSERVED CHINESE POPULATION IN BROOKLYN THROUGH ADVOCACY, OUTREACH AND MOBILIZING COMMUNITY RESOURCES.

YOUTH PROGRAMS: THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OFFERS EXTRA CURRICULUM CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES TO DIVERSIFY YOUNG PEOPLE'S INTEREST AND KNOWLEDGE BEYOND REGULAR SCHOOL ACADEMIC COURSES. THESE CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE WEEKEND ENRICHMENT CLASSES IN CHINESE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE, ART, KARATE, AND SAT PREPARATION. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO SPONSORS A LION DANCE TEAM AND AN INTERNSHIP AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAM TO PROVIDE STRUCTURED ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS. THE STUDENT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM ENROLLS 15 HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE VOLUNTEERS. ADULT & SENIOR PROGRAMS: THE SENIOR CENTER PROVIDES A SENSE OF HOME AND BELONGING FOR ITS MEMBERS WHO OFTEN FACE CULTURAL ISOLATION AND LONELINESS IN A NEW COUNTRY. THE SENIOR CENTER IS OPEN FIVE DAYS A WEEK AND SERVES 35 SENIORS DAILY WITH TAI CHI, HOT LUNCH, AND ESL AND NATURALIZATION CLASSES. THE CENTER HAS OVER 300 MEMBERS WHO REGULARLY PARTICIPATE IN ANNUAL HOLIDAY LUNCHEONS AND CELEBRATIONS. THE SENIOR CENTER ALSO HELPS ITS MEMBERS APPLY FOR GOVERNMENT BENEFIT PROGRAMS, HEALTH INSURANCE AND WITH VOTER REGISTRATION. COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS: THE COMMUNITY-BUILDING AND OUTREACH ACTIVITIES AIM TO ENCOURAGE IMMIGRANTS TO BE ORGANIZERS, LEADERS, AND ADVOCATES OF THEIR OWN COMMUNITY. THE PROGRAM ENGAGES IMMIGRANT ADULTS, WHO ARE OFTEN ALIENATED FROM SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES BECAUSE OF LANGUAGE OR CULTURAL BARRIERS. THE PROGRAM ALSO FOSTERS CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY AND PARTICIPATION THROUGH A VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE, VOTER EDUCATION WORKSHOPS, COMMUNITY EDUCATION WORKSHOPS AND CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS. THE ORGANIZATION TRANSLATES LETTERS, PROVIDES HOUSING CONSULTATION, AND ESL AND NATURALIZATION CLASSES TO ABOUT 500 ADULTS PER YEAR.
