Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE PRIMARY MISSION IS TO PROVIDE GRANTS TO PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATORS IN OUR COMMUNITY'S TWO PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICTS, UNIT 5 AND DISTRICT 87. TEACHERS COMPLETE A RIGOROUS APPLICATION PROCESS IN WHICH COMPLETED APPLICATIONS ARE BLINDLY SUBMITTED TO OUR ORGANIZATION'S GRANTS COMMITTEE. WE TAKE GREAT CARE TO MAKE SURE NEITHER THE APPLICANT'S NAME NOR SCHOOL IS KNOWN DURING THE GRANT REVIEW PROCESS. IN 2015, GRANT APPLICATIONS EXCEEDED BUDGETED GRANTS AMOUNTS BY SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS. THE GRANTS COMMITTEE CAREFULLY REVIEWS EACH APPLICATION TO DETERMINE THOSE THAT ARE MOST WORTHY OF FUNDS FROM BUDGETED AMOUNTS. APPLICANTS AWARDED GRANTS USE THE MONEY TO UNDERWRITE INNOVATIVE TEACHING PROJECTS THAT ARE "BEYOND THE BOOKS."
