TO BRING FINE SYMPHONIC AND CHORAL MUSIC TO THE QUINCY AREA, TO PROVIDE ENSEMBLES FOR LOCAL MUSICIANS TO PERFORM, AND TO OFFER PROGRAMS THAT ENCOURAGE YOUNG MUSICIANS' INTEREST AND SKILLS IN SUCH MUSIC.

SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AND CHORUS EDUCATES THE PUBLIC ON THE STUDY AND CULTURE OF INSTRUMENTAL AND VOCAL MUSIC. PERFORMED 10 CONCERTS FROM OCTOBER TO APRIL FOR LIVE AUDIENCES. PROVIDED FREE ADMISSION FOR AGE 18 AND UNDER TO ALL CONCERTS. DISPLAYED OVER 100 ANSEL ADAMS PHOTOS ON BIG SCREEN ACCOMPANIED BY THE ORCHESTRA. FEATURED MUSIC OF AFRICAN AMERICAN COMPOSERS WILLIAM GRANT STILL AND FLORENCE PRICE AND PERFORMED A TRIBUTE PIECE TO VICTIMS OF 2015 CHARLSTON SC CHURCH SHOOTING. COMMISSIONED AND PREMIERED A NEW WORK FOR ORCHESTRA BY RANDALL FAUST. ORCHESTRA PERFORMED A CONCERT OF 20TH CENTURY MUSIC, AND PERFORMED THE 2020-21 COMMISSIONED WORK WHICH COULDN'T BE PREMIERED EARLIER DUE TO PANDEMIC CAPACITY RESTRICTIONS. CHORUS PERFORMED 2 CONCERTS, INCLUDING POULENC'S GLORIA WITH GUEST SOLOIST. ORCHESTRA PERFORMED EDUCATIONAL CONCERTS FOR 2,700 STUDENTS FROM 21 SCHOOLS FROM 8 COUNTIES. EASING OF RESTRICTIONS ALLOWED CHORUS, YOUTH CHORUS AND ORCHESTRA TO COME TOGETHER FOR A GRAND MASTERWORK FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2018.
ENCORE SYMPHONY VOLUNTEER COUNCIL PROVIDES VOLUNTEER SUPPORT AND GENERAL FUNDRAISING FOR QSOA WITH A FOCUS ON YOUTH MUSIC EDUCATION. PROVIDED 10K TO QSOA AND 5,800 IN GRANTS TO HIGH SCHOOL MUSICIANS FOR SUMMER MUSIC STUDY, PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS, AND CONCERTO COMPETITION AWARDS, AND QUINCY'S PUBLIC & PAROCHIAL SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS.
QUINCY AREA YOUTH ORCHESTRA (QAYO) PROVIDED MUSIC INSTRUCTION & PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES TO AREA STUDENT MUSICIANS IN GRADES 7 TO 12. STUDENTS WITH FINANCIAL NEED RECEIVED FREE TUITION. PERFORMED THREE DANCES SIDE-BY-SIDE WITH THE QUINCY SYMPHONY IN FEBRUARY, AND A FULL CONCERT OF 11 WORKS IN MARCH. QAYO SERVED STUDENTS FROM 15 SCHOOLS IN 6 COUNTIES.
QUINCY AREA YOUTH CHORUS (QAYC) CONCERT CHOIR (GRADES 7 TO 12) AND KINDERCHOR (GRADES 3 TO 7) PERFORMED TWO CONCERTS, AND JOINED THE QUINCY SYMPHONY AND CHORUS FOR DVORAK'S TE DEUM IN APRIL. CONCERTS FEATURED SONGS IN SEVERAL LANGUAGES. STUDENTS WITH FINANCIAL NEED RECEIVED FREE TUITION. CELEBRATED 25TH ANNIVERSARY A YEAR LATE WITH THE PREMIERE OF A COMMISSIONED WORK BY MARY LYNN LIGHTFOOT WHO ATTENDED THE PERFORMANCE. QAYC SERVED STUDENTS FROM 23 SCHOOLS IN 4 COUNTIES.
