THE FOUNDATION HAS BEGUN TO ACQUIRE A COLLECTION OF ARTWORK OF PAINTERS USING THE PLEIN AIR APPROACH TO PAINTING WHO PAINTED CALIFORNIA SCENES FROM APPROXIMATELY THE POST GOLD RUSH ERA TO 1940. WHEN A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF PAINTINGS HAVE BEEN ACQUIRED, THE FOUNDATION WILL SEEK TO EXHIBIT THEM AS A STAND ALONE COLLECTION IN PUBLIC ART MUSEUMS AND LIBRARIES IN ORDER TO HELP EDUCATE THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT THIS FORM OF WELL KNOWN AND APPRECIATED PAINTING.
