HILLSBORO AREA HEALTH SYSTEM IS A CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION SUPPORTING HILLSBORO AREA HEALTH FOUNDATION, A NON-PROFIT FOUNDATION, HILLSBORO AREA HOSPITAL, A NON-PROFIT ENTITY OPERATING A CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITAL, AND HILLSBORO AREA HEALTH SERVICES, INC., A NON-PROFIT ENTITY OPERATING A WELLNESS CENTER. THE SYSTEM MANAGES RESOURCES TO SUPPORT THE PROVISION OF EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE HEALTHCARE SERVICES.

OPERATION OF AN OUTPATIENT CLINIC BEGAN ON MAY 10, 2010. HILLSBORO SPECIALTY CLINICS IS A MEDICAL CLINIC, CONSISTING OF 4,589 SQUARE FEET, AT WHICH OUT OF TOWN SPECIALTY PHYSICIANS LEASE SPACE FOR THE EXAMINATION OF PATIENTS. THERE WERE 4480 VISITS TO THE CLINIC FROM JULY 1, 2020 TO JUNE 30, 2021. HILLSBORO AREA HEALTH SYSTEM ALSO OWNS 5,336 SQUARE FEET OF SPACE THAT IS USED RENT FREE BY LINCOLN LAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS FOR THE INSTRUCTION OF NURSING AND OTHER HEALTH EDUCATION CLASSES TO LOCAL STUDENTS.


HILLSBORO AREA HEALTH SYSTEM NFP PROVIDED GRANT FUNDS TO SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE FOR RESEARCH PROJECTS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR. IN THE YOUTH ASSESSMENT RESEARCH PROJECT, SIU PARTNERED WITH THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TO SURVEY THE STUDENTS TO IDENTIFY POTENTIAL MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS IN THE COMMUNITY. IN THE LITTLE LEAPS PROJECT, SIU PARTNERED WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT DAY CARE TO RESEARCH CHILD BRAIN DEVELOPMENT, AND SIU ALSO COMPLETED A LUNG CANCER SCREENING IN THE COMMUNITY TO IDENTIFY COMMUNITY NEEDS.
