INTERIM HOUSING FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN & MENS SHELTER - THE THE ORGANIZATION WAS CREATED TO PROVIDE SHELTER CARE, HOUSING AND SOCIAL SERVICE TO ECONOMICALLY DEPRIVED HOMELESS MEN, WOME AND CHILDREN. ALL PROGRAM SERVICES ARE FREE TO THE HOMELESS WHEN FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE FROM PUBLIC SUPPORT TO COVER COSTS. THE ORGANIZATION FOCUSES ITS EFFORTS ON NEGLECTED OR ECONOMICALLY-DEPRIVED HOMELESS AND DRUG ABUSERS. IT PROVIDES FOOD, CLOTHES AND HOUSING TO THE HOMELESS.IN 2018 THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED TWO LOCATIONS FOR ITS 120-BED INTERIM HOUSING FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES. THE 5052 S LAFLIN ST SITE PROVIDED TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR PARENTS WITH CHILDREN AND SINGLE FATHERS WITH CHILDREN AND THE 5200 S MORGAN ST SITE PROVIDED HOUSING FOR WOMEN WITH CHILDREN. A TOTAL OF 160 FAMILIES WERE SERVED IN THESE TWO FACILITIES OVER THE COURSE OF 2018. ALL THE FAMILIES WERE SETTLED IN PERMANENT OR ALTERNATIVE HOUSING BY THE END OF THE YEAR.
