METHODIST RESEARCH INSTITUTE, INC. ("METHODIST RESEARCH INSTITUTE") PLAYS AN INTEGRAL ROLE IN INDIANA UNIVERSITY HEALTH, INC.S ("IU HEALTHS") MISSION OF IMPROVING THE HEALTH OF ITS PATIENTS AND COMMUNITY BY SUPPORTING INNOVATIVE RESEARCH IN A NUMBER OF IMPORTANT AREAS. THE CLINICAL RESEARCH GROUP, IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING CLINICAL RESEARCH SUPPORT TO THE INVESTIGATORS AT IU HEALTH METHODIST HOSPITAL AND EMBRACING THE INITIATIVE FORGED AMONG IU HEALTH, THE INDIANA UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, AND THE CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL SCIENCES INSTITUTE, IS ALSO EXPANDING ITS SERVICES TO OTHER HOSPITALS BEYOND IU HEALTH METHODIST HOSPITAL. THE CLINICAL RESEARCH NURSES OF METHODIST RESEARCH INSTITUTE ALSO PROVIDE STUDY MANAGEMENT FROM THE EARLY PLANNING STAGES THROUGH SUBJECT ENROLLMENT, THE PROCUREMENT OF SPECIMENS, AND THE COLLECTION AND DOCUMENTATION OF DATA AT IU HEALTH NORTH HOSPITAL AND IU HEALTH SAXONY HOSPITAL. THE BIOREPOSITORY AT METHODIST RESEARCH INSTITUTE, UNDER IRB APPROVAL, COLLECTS HUMAN BIOLOGICAL MATERIALS (BLOOD, BONE, TISSUE, URINE) VITAL FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH TO PROVIDE THE BEST WAY TO STUDY A VARIETY OF DISEASES AND THEIR POTENTIAL TREATMENTS. THE METHODIST RESEARCH INSTITUTE BIOREPOSITORY STAFF HAS STREAMLINED THE PROCESS OF OBTAINING RESEARCH SAMPLES FROM THE OPERATING ROOM AND PRESERVING THE SAMPLES IN A CRUCIAL TIME-SENSITIVE MANNER. RESEARCH IS FURTHER SUPPORTED THROUGH THE MEDICAL RESEARCH LABORATORY, WHERE THE GROUNDBREAKING WORK OF DOCTORS AND INVESTIGATORS TAKES PLACE, THE SPECIALIZED SKILL SET OF OUR DATA SERVICES PROVIDERS WHO VALIDATE RESEARCH AND MAINTAIN DATA REGISTRIES FOR CLINICAL TRIALS, OUR CERTIFIED MEDICAL ILLUSTRATOR WHO EXPLAINS CONCEPTS THROUGH IMAGES, AND THE GRANT WRITER AND EDITOR WHO HELPS INVESTIGATORS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE GRANT SUBMISSIONS.
