TO PROVIDE AFFORDABLE SPAY/NEUTER, VACCINATION, AND WELLNESS SERVICES FOR THE INDIANAPOLIS COMMUNITY TO PREVENT THE UNNECESSARY EUTHANASIA OF DOGS AND CATS.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

FACE LOW-COST ANIMAL CLINIC IS INDIANAPOLIS' NONPROFIT, HIGH-VOLUME, LOW- COST ANIMAL CLINIC. SINCE OPENING ITS DOORS IN 1999, FACE HAS PERFORMED MORE THAN 300,000 SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES, CONTRIBUTING TO A 90 PERCENT REDUCTION IN CATS AND DOGS EUTHANIZED IN INDIANAPOLIS. SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES ARE THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO CUT DOWN ON PET OVERPOPULATION, CURBING NEEDLESS EUTHANASIA OF CATS AND DOGS. FACE OFFERS SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES MONDAY - THURSDAY. IN 2021, FACE COMPLETED 9,751 SURGERIES. ADDITIONALLY, SURGERY SERVICES WERE CLOSED SIX (6) DAYS DUE TO COVID-19, WEATHER, OR LABOR SHORTAGES RELATED TO THE NATIONAL VETERINARIAN SHORTAGE.

FACE RECOGNIZES THAT PET OWNERS OF ALL INCOME LEVELS SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY CARE FOR THEIR PETS. SERVICES LIKE VACCINES, HEARTWORM, FLEA AND TICK PREVENTION, AND MICROCHIPPING CONTRIBUTE TO A PET'S OVERALL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. MOREOVER, KEEPING PETS HEALTHY THROUGH SPAY/NEUTER SERVICES, WELLNESS AND PREVENTIVE CARE KEEPS THEM WITH THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM AND OUT OF AREA SHELTERS. IN 2021, FACE SERVED 10,180 DOGS AND CATS THROUGH VACCINATION APPOINTMENTS. ADDITIONALLY, VACCINES SERVICES WERE CLOSED 54 DAYS DUE TO COVID-19, WEATHER, OR LABOR SHORTAGES RELATED TO THE NATIONAL VETERINARIAN SHORTAGE.

FACE SUPPPORTS TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN (TNR), WHICH ALLOWS CATS TO LIVE IN NEIGHBORHOODS AND ULTIMATELY PREVENTS CAT OVERPOPULATION. OFTEN, OUTDOOR AND FERAL CATS ARE THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF CAT INTAKE FOR AREA SHELTERS. FACE'S COMMUNITY CAT SERVICES WORK TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF CATS THAT END UP IN SHELTERS BY FOCUSING ON SPAY/NEUTER. MEDICAL CARE FOR ILLNESS OR INJURY IS PROVIDED AS NECESSARY. FACE COMPLETED 2,712 SPAY/NEUTER SURGERIES FOR COMMUNITY CATS IN 2021. EACH COMMUNITY CAT ALSO RECEIVED THEIR RABIES VACCINE, FVRCP VACCINE, AN EAR TIP, AND A THREE- MONTH DOSE OF FLEA PREVENTION.

FACE IS NOT A SHELTER. HOWEVER, ITS LIMITED ADOPTION PROGRAM WILL FIND HOMES FOR DISPLACED CATS AND DOGS. A MAJORITY OF THE ANIMALS IN THE PROGRAM ARE FORMER COMMUNITY CATS THAT CANNOT RETURN TO A LIFE OUTSIDE DUE TO HEALTH ISSUES OR A LACK OF GENERAL WELLBEING. IN LATE 2020, FACE MADE THE DECISION TO PHASE OUT ITS ADOPTION PROGRAM TO RENEW FOCUS ON THE CORE OF ITS MISSION - PROVIDING AFFORDABLE SPAY/NEUTER AND VACCINATIONS. DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, FACE WAS FORCED TO PAUSE THEIR SERVICES AND REFER THE PUBLIC TO OUR PARTNERS AT INDY HUMANE AND INDIANAPOLIS ANIMAL CARE SERVICES.
