THE WESTLAKE SOCCER ASSOCIATION ALSO OVERSEES THE RECREATIONAL SOCCER PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN IN THE COMMUNITY. THIS PROGRAM BEGINS AT THE PRE-K LEVEL AND CONTINUES THROUGHOUT MIDDLE SCHOOL AGE FOR THOSE WHO ARE EITHER TOO YOUNG TO PLAY ON A COMPETITIVE TRAVEL TEAM OR WHO OTHERWISE CHOOSE TO ENJOY THE SPORT IN A FUN, LESS COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT.
THE WESTLAKE SOCCER ASSOCIATION OVERSEES OVER 15 BOYS AND GIRLS TRAVEL TEAMS, AGES 8 THROUGH 15, THAT COMPETE IN A NORTHEAST OHIO SOCCER LEAGUE AND TOURNAMENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. OVER 200 WESTLAKE CHILDREN PARTICIPATE ON THESE TEAMS IN ORDER TO BE INVOLVED IN ATHLETIC COMPETITIONS, ENHANCE THEIR OVERALL PHYSICAL WELL-BEING, AND LEARN GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP.
THE WESTLAKE SOCCER ASSOCIATION ANNUALLY HOSTS THE WESTLAKE INVITATIONAL SOCCER TOURNAMENT (WIST). THE WIST DRAWS TOGETHER OVER 200 YOUTH SOCCER TEAMS FROM THROUGHOUT THE CLEVELAND AREA, ELSEWHERE IN OHIO, FROM SURROUNDING STATES AND EVEN OCASIONALLY FROM CANADA, IN ORDER TO ENGAGE IN A COMPETITIVE ATHLETIC TOURNAMENT. THE WIST PROVIDES MULTIPLE LEVELS OF COMPETITION SO THAT ALL PARTICIPATES CAN ASSESS THEIR SKILL LEVELS WHILE ENJOYING THE SPORT OF SOCCER. DUE TO COVID-19 PANDAMIC THIS TOURNAMENT GOT CANCELLED THIS YEAY WHICH AFFECTED THE REVENUE
THE WESTLAKE SOCCER ASSOCATION PROVIDES SKILLS TRAINING FOR YOUTH PLAYERS, AND ALSO GIVES ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS.
