BLCI BREAKS THE CYCLE OF POVERTY BY PREPARING DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS TO BE AMONG THE FIRST IN THEIR FAMILIES TO ATTEND AND SUCCEED IN COLLEGE. BLCI ENSURES THAT 100% OF ITS STUDENTS ENROLL IN COLLEGE AND SUPPORTS THEM THROUGHOUT THEIR STUDIES.

BLCI PROVIDES CHILDREN FROM POOR FAMILIES THE INFORMATION, OPPORTUNITIES AND PRESSURE THAT WEALTHIER KIDS TAKE FOR GRANTED. THE GOAL IS TO CHANGE THE QUESTION OF WHETHER THESE CHILDREN WILL GO TO COLLEGE TO WHERE WILL THEY GO TO COLLEGE. BLCI PROVIDES COACHING FROM ADULTS WHO KNOW WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE THE FIRST IN THEIR FAMILIES TO GO TO COLLEGE. BLCI ALSO PROVIDES COLLEGE PREP STARTING WITH 3RD GRADE STUDENTS AND REQUIRES A PARENT TO PLEDGE 30 HOURS ER YEAR OF PARTICIPATION TO ENSURE COMMITMENT FROM THE FAMILY TO ADVANCE THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATIONAL ASPIRATIONS. BLCI OFFERS INDIVIDUALIZED, CULTURALLY RELEVANT SERVICES TO EACH FAMILY.
