THE SAN DIEGO PRESS CLUB ADVANCES JOURNALISM AND COMMUNICATIONS THROUGH VARIOUS EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES. IN 2023, THE ORGANIZATION AWARDED $4,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO 2 LOCAL STUDENTS PURSUING CAREERS IN COMMUNICATIONS, FUNDED PRIMARILY THROUGH ITS 50TH ANNUAL EXCELLENCE IN JOURNALISM AWARDS EVENT WHICH HONORED OVER 300 PROFESSIONALS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HOSTED 2 FREE EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS FOCUSING ON STORYTELLING AND ARTS WRITING, REACHING 60 MEMBERS LIVE AND EXPANDING ITS IMPACT THROUGH SUBSEQUENT YOUTUBE VIEWS. ADDITIONALLY, THE CLUB FOSTERED PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING THROUGH ITS ALL-MEDIA HOLIDAY PARTY, WHICH WAS OFFERED FREE TO MEMBERS AND BROUGHT TOGETHER 60 PARTICIPANTS FROM VARIOUS LOCAL PRESS ORGANIZATIONS.
