IMPROVES THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR SENIORS IN RAMSEY COUNTY BY PROVIDING A FULL RANGE OF ESSENTIAL COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES AND RESOURCES THAT ENRICH THEIR LIVES AND HELP THEM MAINTAIN THEIR HIGHEST LEVEL OF INDEPENDENCE.

THE SENIOR SERVICES CONSORTIUM OF RAMSEY COUNTY IS A CONVENER OF SERVICE PROVIDERS TO COORDINATE RESOURCESTO BETTER SERVE OLDER ADULTS LIVING IN OUR COMMUNITIES. THE CONSORTIUM MAINTAINS THE COORDINATED SYSTEM OF MEALS ON WHEELS OF RAMSEY COUNTY, IN COLLABORATION WITH MEMBER AGENCIES, COMMUNITY PARTNERS, AND FUNDERSBY COORDINATING SERVICE CONTRACTS, GRANTS, AND OTHER RESOURCES. BY WORKING TOGETHER, THE CONSORTIUM ENSURESAN EFFECTIVE, ECONOMICAL, AND STREAMLINED SYSTEM THAT IS LOCALLY BASED AND RESPONSIVE TO INDIVIDUAL COMMUNITYNEEDS. THE BEHIND-THE-SCENES COORDINATION BY THE CONSORTIUM HELPS TO STRETCH LIMITED RESOURCES BY LEVERAGINGTHE NETWORK OF MEMBERS. COLLABORATION ENCOURAGES BEST PRACTICES AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT IN EACHMEMBER'S GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS.IN 2021, CONSORTIUM MEMBERS DELIVERED OVER 210,000 NUTRITIOUS MID-DAY HOME-DELIVERED MEALS TO PEOPLE WHOARE OLDER ADULTS, LIVING WITH A DISABILITY, OR WHO WERE UNABLE TO PREPARE THEIR OWN MEALS. THIS WAS AN INCREASEOVER THE PREVIOUS YEAR DUE TO CONTINUED GROWING NEED FOR HOME-DELIVERED MEALS DURING THE COVID-19PANDEMIC. MEALS ARE MADE FROM SCRATCH IN A LOCAL TWIN CITIES MEALS ON WHEELS KITCHEN. 68% OF MEALS ONWHEELS RECIPIENTS IN RAMSEY COUNTY LIVE ALONE AND MOST ARE LOW INCOME. VOLUNTEERS ARE THE BACKBONE OF THEMEALS ON WHEELS OF RAMSEY COUNTY PROGRAM. ABOUT 2000 VOLUNTEERS HELPED DELIVER MEALS IN RAMSEY COUNTYIN 2021. MANY PEOPLE VOLUNTEER ON THEIR OWN WHILE OTHERS PARTICIPATE THROUGH ORGANIZATIONS WHERE THEY AREEMPLOYED OR ARE MEMBERS.
