2023 ANNUAL ALL USA HIGH SCHOOL JAPANESE SPEECH CONTEST WAS AGAIN HOSTED VIA ONLINE. THE CONTEST IS HOSTED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF JAPAN IN LOS ANGELES, AND THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF TEACHERS OF JAPANESE, PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS STUDING THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE IN THE US (WHOSE NATIVE LANAUGAGE IS NOT JAPANESE) TO MAKE PRESENTATIONS IN JAPANESE AND TO INSPIRE OTHERS TO IMPROVE THEIR PROFICIENCY IN JAPANESE. IT IS ALSO HOPED THAT THE CONTEST WILL ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO FURTHER THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF JAPAN, ITS PEOPLE, AND ITS CULTURE.IN ADDITION, THE ORGANIZATION HOSTED A VARIETY OF COMMUNITY EVENTS IN ORDER TO PROMOTE INTEREST IN THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE AMONG THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE CULTURE AND LANAUGAE OF JAPAN.
