THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION IS TO HAVE THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY WORKING TOGETHER TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL YOUNG CHILDREN UNDER AGE FIVE, SO THAT THEY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL.

EARLY CARE & EDUCATION AND AFFORDABILITY: THE PROGRAM SERVED 82 PROFESSIONALS AT 40 CHILDCARE/EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION SITES. 40 EARLY CARE AND EDUCATION SITES RECEIVED GENERAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE DURING 536 CONSULTATION VISITS. 50 PROFESSIONALS PARTICIPATED IN TRAININGS; 10 TRAININGS WERE COMPLETED. CHILD CARE SCHOLARSHIPS WERE PROVIDED TO 25 CHILDREN, ALLOWING FAMILIES TO AFFORD HIGH QUALITY CHILDCARE. 351 CHILDREN WERE ENROLLED IN THE NC PRE-K PROGRAM, WITH 333 RECEIVING ADDITIONAL FUNDING THROUGH SMART START FUNDS. INFORMATION ON OBTAINING AND AFFORDING QUALITY CHILDCARE WAS PROVIDED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND REFERRALS FOR APPROPRIATE SOURCES OF CHILDCARE WERE PROVIDED TO FAMILIES.


FAMILY SUPPORT: LENDING LIBRARY HAD 887 TRANSACTIONS. 44 FREE CAR SEATS TO ELIGIBLE FAMILIES WERE DISTRIBUTED. LOCAL FUNDS SUPPORTED 139 CHILDREN AGES BIRTH THROUGH FOUR WITH FREE BOOKS EACH MONTH; A TOTAL OF 2,098 BOOKS WERE DISTRIBUTED.


PROGRAM COORDINATION AND EVALUATION: PROGRAM COORDINATION AND MONITORING PROGRAMS FOR FIDELITY OF IMPLEMENTATION TO PROGRAM DESIGN OR GUIDELINES WAS CONDUCTED.
