NHSMUN NYC - IMUNA ORGANIZES THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL MODEL UNITED NATIONS (NHSMUN), THE WORLD'S LARGEST MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE, BRINGING TOGETHER MORE THAN 5,000 STUDENTS FROM OVER 70 COUNTRIES FOR IMMERSIVE SIMULATIONS OF THE UNITED NATIONS. NHSMUN HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED AS HAVING ONE OF THE TOP-QUALITY SUBSTANTIVE PROGRAMS ACROSS THE MODEL UNITED NATIONS CIRCUIT. THROUGH THEIR PARTICIPATION, STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT THE SUSTANIABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS, GLOBAL ISSUES, AND CRITICAL SOFT SKILLS, SUCH AS PUBLIC SPEAKING AND NEGOTIATION, THAT ARE NOT TYPICALLY TAUGHT IN CLASSROOMS. STUDENTS ARE ALSO OFFERED THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET WITH UN AMBASSADORS AND OTHER DIPLOMATIC PROFESSIONALS WHO CAN GUIDE THEM TOWARDS CAREERS IN PUBLIC SERVICE. THE ORGANIZATION'S VOLUNTEERS PREPARE YEAR-ROUND TO WELCOME THE MORE THAN 5000 PARTICIPANTS TO THE ANNUAL NEW YORK CITY CONFERENCE. IMUNA MAINTAINS A COMPREHENSIVE SUITE OF DIGITAL RESOURCES AND TOOLS THAT ARE UTILIZED BY SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS INTERNATIONALLY. IMUNA'S CONFERENCES AND RESOURCES TEACH STUDENTS TO CULTIVATE EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION AND DECISION-MAKING SKILLS BY LEVERAGING THE POWER OF COMPROMISE, CONSENSUS, AND COOPERATION FOR EFFECTIVE NEGOTIATIONS. IMUNA ANNUALLY PREPARES MODEL UNITED NATIONS CURRICULA RESOURCES FOR TEACHERS. IN ADDITION TO CORE CONTENT, THESE RESOURCES INCLUDE DOZENS OF ENGAGING ACTIVITY LESSON PLANS TO BRING THE CONCEPTS TO LIFE. TO DATE, THESE MATERIALS HAVE BEEN DOWNLOADED AND USED BY HUNDREDS OF SCHOOLS AROUND THE WORLD, MAKING THEM AMONG THE MOST WIDELY ACCESSED RESOURCES FOR GLOBAL ISSUES EDUCATION.AS A RESULT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, FOR THE 2020-2021 CONFERENCE CYCLE, THE ORGANIZATION WAS UNABLE TO HOLD THE NHSMUN CONFERENCE IN-PERSON AND INSTEAD RAN A VIRTUAL CONFERENCE ONLINE. IN SPITE OF THE PANDEMIC-RELATED OBSTACLES, HUNDREDS OF SCHOOLS AND THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE AND FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION THROUGH SIMULATION.
