Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

NIFI'S PURPOSE IS STIMULATING SERIOUS PUBLIC DELIBERATION OF MAJOR ISSUES IN AMERICA AND PROMOTING THE NATIONAL ISSUES FORUMS (NIF) AND THE NIF NETWORK, WHICH IS A VOLUNTARY ALLIANCE OF THOUSANDS OF CIVIC AND EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS. TO SUPPORT THIS PURPOSE, NIFI FOCUSES ON TWO RELATED ACTIVITIES THAT HELP FACILITATE LEARNING, DELIBERATION, AND INSIGHT ON CURRENT ISSUES FACED IN TODAY'S WORLD. THE FIRST ACTIVITY IS TO PUBLISH AND DISTRIBUTE AN ONGOING SERIES OF ISSUE GUIDES AND VIDEOS TO HELP EDUCATE AND PREPARE THE INDIVIDUAL FOR THOUGHTFUL DISUCSSION. THE SECOND ACTIVITY IS TO NEUTRALLY MODERATE THESE TYPES OF DISCUSSIONS ON INTERACTIVE FORUMS. THESE FORUMS ENCOURAGE A POSITIVE INTERACTION BETWEEN A GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS, IN WHICH, THEY ARE TO DISCUSS A GIVEN COMPLEX ISSUE. WITH EACH ISSUE, THERE WILL BE SEVERAL POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS GIVEN, AND IT IS UP TO THE GROUP TO DECIDE WHAT SOLUTION WOULD BEST FIT IN THEIR SITUATION AND WHAT CONSEQUENCES MAY COME WITH THEIR DECISION.
