CAPA PROVIDES SERVICES THAT BOLSTER AND ENLIVEN OUR COMMUNITY. WE PRESENT EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. OUR THEATRES AND PRESENTATIONS ARE THE MOST PUBLIC ASPECTS OF OUR OPERATIONS. WHEN THEATRES CLOSED IN MARCH 2020, CAPA IMMEDIATELY TRANSITIONED TO VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING TO SERVE OUR AUDIENCES AND COMMUNITY DURING THE PANDEMIC. VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING OFFERED IN 2020-2021 INCLUDED THE APART TOGETHER CONCERT SERIES, FEATURING 19 FREE CONCERTS BY LOCAL ARTISTS; HIP HOP NUTCRACKER; CONCERTS BY DAVE KOZ AND JIM BRICKMAN; FREE VIRTUAL EVENTS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NEW JERSEY PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (NJPAC), INCLUDING A CHARLIE PARKER CENTENNIAL COMMEMORATION AND "DUETS ON SOCIAL JUSTICE; THE FREE BOOKS ON THE MOVE CHILDREN'S READING SERIES, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NJPAC AND COLUMBUS METROPOLITAN LIBRARY; AND EVENTS FEATURING AUDIENCE FAVORITES, SUCH AS THE "EVIL DEAD II WATCH PARTY" WITH BRUCE CAMPBELL. WE OFFERED AN ABBREVIATED SUMMER MOVIE SERIES IN SEPTEMBER 2020 THAT STRICTLY FOLLOWED HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS. CLASSIC FEATURES LIKE "TO CATCH A THIEF AND "MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS" DREW SMALL BUT APPRECIATIVE AUDIENCES, AND MOST OF THE SCREENINGS WERE SOLD OUT TO CAPACITY. THE SERIES RETURNED WITH SIX WEEKS OF IN-PERSON SCREENINGS IN THE OHIO THEATRE IN JULY-AUGUST 2021, CONTINUING ITS TRADITION AS THE NATION'S LONGEST-RUNNING CLASSIC MOVIE SERIES. OUR LARGEST ANNUAL PRESENTATION, FESTIVAL LATINO, WENT VIRTUAL IN AUGUST 2020, PROVIDING A FREE, WEEK-LONG CELEBRATION OF LATINO ARTS AND CULTURES (VIVA FESTIVAL LATINO!), WHICH RECEIVED OVER 281,000 VIEWS. FEATURES HIGHLIGHTED MANY ASPECTS OF AN IN-PERSON FESTIVAL, INCLUDING LATIN CUISINE, VISUAL ARTISTS, AND CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES. THE FESTIVAL RETURNED AS A HYBRID EVENT IN SEPTEMBER 2021, WITH TWO DAYS OF VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING AND A FREE CONCERT IN THE COLUMBUS COMMONS.

CAPA OWNS AND/OR MANAGES TEN THEATRES IN CENTRAL OHIO. OUR THEATRE OPERATIONS INCLUDE FACILITATING RENTAL EVENTS, MAINTAINING THE THEATRES, AND PROVIDING TICKETING AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES FOR OTHER NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. RENTAL EVENTS BROUGHT THOUSANDS OF PATRONS TO THE THEATRES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. ONE OF THE MOST INNOVATIVE SEGMENTS OF OUR OPERATIONS IS THE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES THAT WE PROVIDE FOR OTHER ORGANIZATIONS. OUR ADMINISTRATIVE PARTNERS CAN CHOOSE FROM A MENU OF SERVICES TO SUIT THEIR PARTICULAR NEEDS, SUCH AS ACCOUNTING, TICKETING, AND MARKETING. WE HAVE DEVELOPED NEW BUSINESS MODELS WITH SEVERAL OF THE PARTNERS, CREATING STRUCTURES THAT ENABLE THE ARTS GROUPS TO REMAIN INDEPENDENT WITH THEIR OWN BOARDS, WHILE STILL TAKING ADVANTAGE OF MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE FROM CAPA.

OUR EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE CAPA MARQUEE AWARDS, AN OFFICIAL REGIONAL AWARDS PROGRAM OF THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATRE AWARDS, THE PASSPORT TO LEARNING STUDENT MATINEE SERIES, ARTIST WORKSHOPS AND MASTER CLASSES, ARTS-IN-WELLNESS PROGRAMS, AND TOURS OF THE HISTORIC THEATRES. WE REACH OUT TO UNDERSERVED SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES THROUGH FREE PROGRAMS AND EVENTS, REDUCED OR FREE TICKETS, AND SUBSIDIES FOR BUSING STUDENTS TO OUR THEATRES. STUDENTS ALSO RECEIVE STUDY GUIDES AND SUGGESTIONS FOR FOLLOW UP ACTIVITIES. MORE THAN 54,000 CHILDREN BENEFITTED FROM OUR EDUCATION PROGRAMS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR. BECAUSE OF COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, CAPA TRANSITIONED TO MOSTLY VIRTUAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS THIS FISCAL YEAR. WE REIMAGINED OUR STUDENT MATINEE SERIES SHIFTING IT TO A VIRTUAL FIELD TRIP EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS WHICH INCLUDED A PERFORMANCE, EXTENSION ACTIVITIES, A VIRTUAL Q & A WITH THE ARTISTS, AND A RESOURCE GUIDE. WE CREATED TWO NEW VIDEO SERIES: DIG DEEPER, A 14-EPISODE TUTORIAL SERIES COVERING A VARIETY OF PERFORMANCE, TECHNICAL, DESIGN, AND ORCHESTRAL TOPICS AND CAREERS IN THE ARTS, A VIRTUAL PROGRAM TO HELP STUDENTS EXPLORE THE MANY CAREER OPPORTUNITIES THE FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS HAVE TO OFFER. WE ACCEPTED 21 SCHOOLS INTO THE THIRD ANNUAL CAPA MARQUEE AWARDS PRESENTED BY AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER FOUNDATION. TO ENSURE THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ALL PARTICIPANTS, ALL YEARLONG EDUCATION ACTIVITIES WERE OFFERED VIRTUALLY. IN ADDITION, 12 OF OUR PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS HAD THEIR VIRTUAL PRODUCTIONS REVIEWED BY THE PROGRAM'S TEAM OF PROFESSIONAL ADJUDICATORS. THE 2021 CAPA MARQUEE AWARDS SHOWCASE WAS HELD VIRTUALLY ON JUNE 2, 2021 AND INCLUDED PERFORMANCES AND THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS IN ELEVEN CATEGORIES. STUDENTS SELECTED AS BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE AND BEST ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE WENT ON TO COMPETE FOR THE NATIONAL TITLE.
