SINCE ITS INCEPTION, THE RI REDS HERITAGE SOCIETY HAS ACHIEVED THE FOLLOWING:- BUILT AN ASTOUNDING MEMBERSHIP OF OVER 650 PERSONS, INCLUDING MORE THAN 100 FORMER RI REDS PLAYERS AND TEAM OFFICIALS- ACQUIRED VALUABLE REDS' ARTIFACTS, INCLUDING VINTAGE FILM, PHOTOGRAPHS, PROGRAMS, ETC. FOR EVENTUAL MUSEUM DISPLAY- COLLECTED APPROXIMATELY $50,060 IN PLEDGES AND GIFTS TOWARDS BUILDING AMUSEUM EXHIBIT- PROVIDED FINANCIAL GIFTS TO YOUTH HOCKEY ORGANIZATIONS TO PAY ICE-TIME TUITION FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED YOUTH WHO WOULD NOT OTHERWISE BE ABLE TO PLAY THE GREAT GAME OF ICE HOCKEY- IN 2011 THE RI REDS HERITAGE SOCIETY AND THE RI INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE ESTABLISHED THE "UNSUNG HERO" AWARD TO RECOGNIZE HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY PLAYERS, IN BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS DIVISIONS, WHO CONSISTENTLY CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR TEAMS' SUCCESS. EACH YEAR, SIX AWARDS ARE PRESENTED TO THE GOALIE, DEFENSIVE PLAYER, AND OFFENSIVE PLAYER IN BOTH DIVISIONS. THE THREE CATEGORIES ARE NAMED IN HONOR OF FORMED REDS GREATS GIL MAYER (GOALTENDER), FERNY FLAMAN (DEFENSE), AND CHUCK SCHERZA (FORWARD).
