DURING THE LAST YEAR, RESOURCES LEGACY FUND FOUNDATION (RLFF) CARRIED OUT PROGRAMS AND AWARDED GRANTS TO SUPPORT ACTIVITIES THAT SOUGHT TO IMPROVE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN CALIFORNIA, INCLUDING THE OCEAN OFF CALIFORNIA'S COAST.IN 2017, RLFF CONTINUED TO SUPPORT OUTREACH AND EDUCATION EFFORTS AROUND MARINE PROTECTED AREAS (MPAS). CALIFORNIA'S MPA NETWORK COVERS NEARLY 17 PERCENT OF STATE WATERS. IN FORMAL PARTNERSHIP WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, RLF HELPED TO CREATE AND MANAGE THE PUBLIC PROCESS THAT LED TO CREATION OF THE MPAS. THE NETWORK WAS FINALIZED IN 2012.
